Scenes from the Weekend: 8/24/26
Good morning!
I’ve got some quiet time this morning because the kids (and Ankur) are TIRED from our eventful weekend.
They’re still sleeping so I thought I’d log on and share some pictures from our weekend.
Can’t believe we’re coming up on almost-2 weeks of living in this place.
A little weekend recap:
On Friday, Ishu had his first real playdate at the park with a friend from his class. Afterward, I had an early dinner with Katie at Marufuku Ramen while the boys did movie night with Ankur. It was so nice to be able to catch up after so long. And that ramen place? An instant favorite.
On Saturday, Ishu lost a tooth! And swallowed it while eating cereal! Whoops. We went to his Soccer Skills training (while I snuck off to buy more passionfruit. Still in disbelief that people are just casually growing this in their backyards. What? I thought this was a tropical island delicacy).
After the class, we came home, regrouped, and went back to the park for a Kids Festival.
Ishu got his face painted, the kids played carnival games, and we watched a few performances. Some people are insanely talented – at such a young age! – and it was so cool to watch.
And then Sunday we went BACK to the park to celebrate Riyu’s third birthday! We hemmed and hawed about doing a little party for him and then eventually decided to do it and I’m so happy we did.
As everyone was singing to him, I could feel myself getting emotional about the village we returned to. Feeling so lucky to have all this family and these friends nearby to celebrate these milestones with us.
After the park, we came back to the apartment and the kids had the best time playing in the “Kids Only” space. While the adults (Bhabhi) sorted out pizza and cake for the adult goodie bags. The air conditioning felt like a nice little treat after being out in almost 90-degree weather.
It was so fun so fun so fun having everyone together. I only wished the rest of the family could have been here for it too. But, again, being in California means the reunions are more frequent. And, for that, I’m thankful.
This post should have been called, “A Weekend Spent at the Park” because we spent most of the weekend there. It’s going to be so nice to have the park so close this year. It’s such a beautiful space.
Alright, I’m off to pack some leftover pizza into Ishu’s lunch. (Speaking of which, does anyone wanna come over for pizza? Because we’ve got PLENTY. Note to self: don’t use AI to figure out pizza quantity for a party – USE YOUR BRAIN).
Okay bye!
