Scenes from the Weekend: 9/14/26

GOOD MORNING!

Riyu starts school today. Ahhhhh. I cannot even believe it.

After three years of him being my sidekick…he’s basically still gonna be my sidekick. Ha.

So, I’ll be volunteering ONE out of the three days he goes to the school. And I’m pretty much going the whole time TODAY because, y’know, first day. But, come Friday, I’M A FREE WOMAN (for 2.5 hours and then his day is over and we’re back to being sidekicks).

But, still. It feels like a big deal. The first time we’re gonna have some solid structure in place and I’m so excited for all the adults and kiddos he’s going to come to know – and hopefully love! – over the next year.

Quick little weekend recap and then it’s time to get this show on the road!

On Friday, we spent the day with Jen and Ila and Juna. Riyu had the best time with the girls. He skipped his nap in favor of going down the twisty slide and playing tea party. Well worth it.

(He actually fell asleep after we picked Ishu up from school. Which was better for us ’cause in the evening we had a movie night at Ishu’s school).

On Saturday, Ishu had his first soccer game and they won! Ishu actually scored a goal which was so cool to watch. I definitely had my reservations about being a ‘soccer mom’ but WOW THAT WAS SO FUN. I want to do it all over again.

During the game, Nanu and Nani landed and then we all met back at home. The kids were so excited to see them. We were too because then all four grandparents got to watch the kiddos while Ankur and I went to a fun potluck dinner to get to know some of the other parents from Riyu’s school.

On Sunday, we drove up to SF to celebrate Baby Adi’s second birthday! The cutest little boy who breaks out in the best smile ever, quietly saying “Clap karo” after blowing out his candle.

I know I sound like a broken record here, but man I just love any event that gets the family together.

It was at the Randall Museum and we got to meet a little raccoon and roam around looking at the gopher snakes and tortoises. And, best of all, make an animal mask. Obviously.

Well, best of all was seeing the fam.

I love it, I love it, I love it.

When we got home from all the festivities, we went for a walk and Ishu and Nanu went fishing for some water bugs. Cutest.

Okay, I’m rushing this cause I gotta go.

One day, I’ll be able to sit down and write a blog post from start to finish without feeling rushed.

Today is not that day.
