Scenes from the Weekend: 8/11/26

Good morning, good morning!

We are back in northern California! We ended up coming back a day earlier than expected and I’m so grateful to have had the extra day. Both grandparents took care of the kiddos so Ankur and I could rent a U-Haul and bop around town picking up furniture from here and there.

We pretty much furnished our entire apartment yesterday and, even though there are still so many boxes that need unpacking and so many things that need to be cleaned or put together or put away, the most labor-intensive part of it is DONE.

By the time we sat down to dinner last night, we were all starving. Ishu actually shoveled an adult-size portion of food into his mouth without any sort of prompting AND he fell asleep on the car ride home.

That’s how you know it was a day.

A tiring but productive day.

The past two weeks in SoCal were also tiring but productive.

So much good time with family (never enough). So many late bedtimes. So many different sleeping arrangements. So many giggles and wiggles.

It was, as always, hard to say goodbye.

But, somehow, it felt a little easier than usual this time knowing that we’re not having to hop on a 5 hour flight to see them again. These kinds of trips will be so much more frequent now.

Alright, we’re heading back to the apartment today to do as much unboxing as we can. Ishu starts school in a few days and I’d like to have some sort of order before then. We won’t be entirely ready, but we sure can try!

Hope you had a great weekend!
