Hi folks!
I’m back in Campbell and heading off to bed shortly. Since Hema flies into town tomorrow, I’m going to head straight to see her after work. Meaning I need to wake up early if I want to get a workout in. A 4:30AM wakeup call demands a 9PM bedtime. I’m not one of those gals who can get by with only 6 hours of sleep. Not my thing.
Family:
This weekend was fantastic and, as always, it’s impossible for me to say goodbye to my family without getting emotional. It’s crazy to think that one of the reasons I moved up to NorCal was to have some space from my family. Just to clarify – there’s nothing wrong with my family. They are the best thing in my life. Ever. But, having never lived further than an hour-long car ride from them, I needed to escape and figure out my self.
So, when Bhaiya, Bhabhi, and Baby moved to Monterey last August (after a year of me being up in NorCal), I was more than ready to be only an hour away from my family again. But, lately, even that hour drive seems far.
Anyway, enough being sappy. I am grateful to have had the weekend with this little one:
I seriously can’t believe how much he grows each week. He’s so chatty, LOVES reading words, and just squeals when he’s positively reinforced for going “pee in the potty.”
How could you not want to spend your weekend screaming, “YOU PEED IN THE POTTY!!”
Fitness:
This morning, Bhaiya and I went on a 4 mile hike. There are so many trails in this area and we’re determined to see them ALL!
By the time we reached the 2-mile point, I was amped. It was either the caffeine setting in or the fact that it was a ridiculously BEAUTIFUL day outside and we felt completely removed from all things stress-related.
I haven’t been on too many hikes with Bhaiya before. But, I’m realizing how much I love it.
I see so much of Veer in him. He honestly soaks up every bit of the world that surrounds him. From the animals scurrying into the bushes nearby to the sound of the plants brushing up against each other, he notices everything.
Hiking with him today reminded me that, though hiking is a great workout physically, it’s equally as important for my mental sanity.
Thank you, Bhaiya, for being a great hiking partner. Can’t wait until our next one! <3
Food:
When we got back home, we walked into the kitchen and saw this:
While we were out hiking, Bhabhi had gone above and beyond and prepped EVERYTHING for a lunch-time BBQ. Lamb burgers + sweet potatoes + regular potatoes + salad + corn on the cob + roasted veggies. I played bartender and threw together a mojito for everyone.
Bhaiya took control of the grill and, within minutes, everything came together beautifully.
All while baby toddler Veer played with his fancy new bubble contraption.
The weather was great and the food was FANTASTIC.
She made some homemade tzatziki sauce that really sealed the deal.
I absolutely love barbecues. They’re my favorite thing.
After our late lunch, Bhabhi packed up some goodies for me for the week and sent me off (after we both got a tad bit emotional) before the sun went down.
I stopped off at Barn Fresh Produce again to pick up some avocados. Naturally, I bought a ton of other things too.
And, when unpacking my car, I may have had a little mishap.
Some stray cat is gonna be HAPPY tonight.
I just put everything away and am READY for this week. Roasted veggies + salsa chicken + ground turkey + chopped veggies + homemade almond butter (two kinds!) + homemade salsa + homemade granola. Normally, I can say that I contribute to our food prep each week. This week, I was ridiculously spoiled.
Thank you, Bhaiya and Bhabhi for another unforgettable weekend. Today was the first Sunday in a while that I haven’t felt any sort of Sunday stress creep up on me. And I have you two to thank for it. Love you so much.
