Yogi The Bear

When it comes to being Indian, I feel like I’m as ‘brown’ as they get. I grew up watching Bollywood movies, practiced coordinated routines to Bhangra music, got yelled at every time I tried to speak in English to our aunts and uncles, had 857 cousins. The list can go on FOREVER. I was Indian. I was brown and proud.

Yesterday, I finally put the finishing touches on my Indian badge. I went to my first yoga class at a studio.

Remember when I did that yoga class at 24 Hour Fitness back in November? This was SO MUCH BETTER. I know you yoga folks are probably rolling your eyes and laughing at me. But, listen, I just didn’t KNOW.

It was so calming…and awakening…all at the same time.

I signed up for a $40 for 30 days deal. We will see if this feeling lasts throughout the month.

In any case, I did it.

I did yoga.

I’m a Yogi.

I’m a proud, brown Yogi. Like Yogi the bear. Minus the stealing lunches part. (Although that might be true depending on if you have french fries in your lunch).

Questions of the Day:

  • What’s your favorite type of yoga?
  • What would a picnic basket have to have in it for you to consider stealing it?

  1. I’ve only been to one yoga class in an actual studio before! I usually do it at home with a video. Maybe I should change my ways… you’ve inspired me!

  2. I’m not the most coordinated or flexible, but I hear yoga has many benefits to runners, so I want to try it out. Kinda nervous to look foolish though….We’ll see if I get brave enough to go!

  3. I just started taking yoga classes too and I’m loving it! It’s so nice going somewhere so calm and relaxing and getting in a good stretch/workout. Good luck with your next 30 days!
