Wine Awesomeness is…Awesome

After we spent this past weekend elbowing through the crowds at the mall in Knoxville, I’ve concluded that I will be doing the rest of my Christmas shopping online.

Me + crowded areas = not a good combination.

But the holidays are fast approaching and, since we are traveling back to California for Christmas, I want to get my gifts squared away as quickly as possible! Subscription boxes are my favorite gift to give. First of all, boxes that show up at the front door each month extends the Christmas festivities for many, many months after. (Long live Christmas!) Second, you can purchase a box or membership for somebody and it will go directly to their e-mail inbox.

No gift wrap. No ribbon. And, certainly, no stamps. Phew. (I like to “hide” the fact that I’m not a creative person. And then confess about it on this not-so-private blog). Plus, there’s the added fact of getting to do all this “shopping” in the comfort of my home with a wine glass in hand and Peggy (my Christmas tree) by my side.

Anyway, if you’re also into subscription boxes like I am, and you have a family member or friend that enjoys wine just as much as I do, you don’t need to look much further. (But if you’re new here, check out my Gift Guide for Wine Enthusiasts for some additional ideas!)

  1. I gifted a box for our office United Way Campaign Auction and it’s actually $45 plus $15 for shipping for the one box gift. I love my monthly subscription but will never gift a box again.

  2. Ugh, crowds. I have a really hard time in crowds and it does make Christmas shopping difficult sometimes.

We’re not wine fans ourselves, but we do the subscription box thing. A couple of years ago I subscribed the wife to Fair Trade Friday for her birthday. It’s a box that comes every month packed with items made by women in third world countries employed by companies that pay fair wages for their work. We’ve gotten things from various countries in Africa, India, Kazakhstan, Southeast Asia, and Haiti (we’ve gotten two things signed by the same woman who lost her arm in the Haitian earthquakes). It’s a worthy cause to look into if you have someone who’s not a fan of wine but might like a sub box for Christmas!

  3. I would love to receive this as a gift! I am a big wine lover. I love that each month is around a different theme, concept or part of the world.

  4. No–no subscriptions for me anymore–I used to–but I would always forget to cancel on time–even when I didn’t like them!! I generally give gift cards as gifts-to the persons favorite store or restaurant if I know it. So much easier for me at least.

  5. My husband loves wine and I only like a few of them which is Verdi usually. I’m not much of a wine drinker and if I am I drink Verdi lol and my husband likes the Sangria stuff with wine.

  6. I’ve never heard of this particular wine membership. Thanks for all of the great info! We live in wine country and are members of several area wine clubs, but this would make a great gift for friends and family all over. Thanks!

  7. I like this idea. I also like the idea of subscription boxes too. Over here, we gift a lot of wine as Vienna has some fantastic vineyards and we get tasty wine from them.

  8. We were thinking about doing this for my dad! He is a wine lover and I think this would make a great gift!

  9. I’ve only recently started enjoying wine and this sounds like an awesome gift idea for myself haha I have so much trouble choosing the right wine and it will be great if someone who knows more about wine than me will send it to my door step!

  10. Hello from CA.
No – not done with Christmas shopping yet.
No – do not order monthly shipments.
I like those Drunk Aunt and Uncle T-shirts – really cute.
    Seasons Greetings to All

  11. Judging from the photo in this post, we are in agreement on the amount which constitutes a “glass” of wine! 🙂

  12. I can so relate to the part where you said how you hate crowds. I prefer to do online shopping cuz crowd makes my shopping difficult. Anyway haven’t had wine before. Seems like its time to try it. 😋

  13. At least we can agree on one thing… WE BOTH HATE CROWDS. Haha. Two, I find that sitting in front of a computer a week before Christmas with a glass of wine in hand helps with easing the shopping feel. So the gift ideas are on point =)
