Weekend Snapshots: 11/21/16

It’s Monday morning. And I’m not panicking or feeling anxious about the week like I normally do. Probably because we’re doing crafts all day today and tomorrow we’re heading to the high school to watch a play.

And then?

Then MY WORK WEEK IS OVER.

Maybe that’s why my weekend was so enjoyable. I didn’t spend half of the weekend prepping for the week. Because there’s nothing to prep for! 🙂

Anyway, here are some weekend snapshots! Hope you all had an enjoyable one and are looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving this week (if you live in the states!).

Friday:

I started my weekend off like I always do. With a little Step Aerobics to PRE-sweat off any weekend indulgences.

For dinner, we made turkey meatballs and cauliflower couscous. Topped with green olive deliciousness.

Saturday:

Ankur also had a lighter load this weekend, so the two of us drove out to Knoxville for a dinner and movie date.

Fantastic Beasts

I was able to fully appreciate the movie since I finally finished reading the entire Harry Potter series! (Note: You don’t actually have to have read the books to see the movie. But, if you haven’t read the books, you should probably prioritize that over ANYTHING).

Starbucks

We made the obligatory stop at Starbucks before the movie and then, after the movie, we drove down to Market Square for some dinner and drinks.

We had dinner at Stock and Barrel. Where everything was extra oily and extra salty. Sissy’s friend grew up in Knoxville and her advice is to never eat out in Tennessee without some TUMS in your purse. Lesson learned.

Sunday:

Sunday was truly a Fun Day because there was no work prep to be done. In the morning, we drove an hour to the closest Christmas tree farm.

Within minutes, we had picked out our pine friend.

We knew our pine-friend was a girl. But we were struggling to come up with the perfect name for her. We spent a few hours decorating to see if inspiration would strike.

Div decorating

We made a list of potential names but none of them felt appropriate.

Christmas tree names

I took a break from decorating and contemplating pine names and went over to Nicole’s for some more Sunday Funday festivities.

And then, on the drive back home, I called Sissy on the phone and she requested to see pictures of our tree so she could help with the naming process.

So, this year, I’d like to credit our Christmas tree’s name to Sister Budhraja.

She has named her, “Peggy.” Short for “…….and Peggy!”

  2. Yes! Reading the books is important. While I love the Harry Potter movies and can’t wait to see Fantastic Beasts, I started by reading the books when there were only three to read. Makes me appreciate the movies even more.

  3. Your weekend looks like it was really relaxing for you.
And turkey meatballs — it’s been so long since I had that 🙂
My weekend wasn’t so bad, though it definitely could have been better.
Plus, we don’t name our trees (though that sounds like fun!)

  4. Love you purchased a real christmas tree. Those turkey meatballs look and sound delicious. I haven’t seen the movie yet but it is on my list.

  5. We get real Christmas tree, so we have not gotten ours yet. But, we plan to in the next few weeks of course, and lights too! We do not name our tree.

We had a busy weekend with cub scouts and girl scouts, with Santa Parade. It was fun but cold.

  6. Sounds like such a great weekend! I love that you named your tree, I’m hoping to get ours up this weekend. And I cannot wait to see Fantastic Beasts. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan so I’m very excited!

  7. Looks like you had a great weekend, and a great start to a week of festivities! I usually don’t put a tree up until after Thanksgiving, but maybe this will inspire me to start earlier…maybe.

  8. Such a lovely weekend! I cannot wait to watch Fantastic Beasts. And yes, we’ve had our tree and decorations up for a few weeks now. No name though, now that is an excellent idea! Enjoy your Thanksgiving long weekend!

  9. I have never named my Christmas tree, but maybe I should consider doing so. Are they happier when they have a name? Do they refuse to drop their needles if they have a name? If the answer is yes to these questions, there is no doubt I will start a new tradition and name my tree. Thanks for a good laugh, sounds like you had a great weekend.

  10. Our Christmas tree will go up once our kids come home December 18th.
    We shall name it DivyAnkur.
Our weekend was fun filled…… rest rest and much needed rest.

    Happy Monday to All.

  11. I love this! What a fun way to document the weekend! I so want to see fantastic beasts and where to find them. I like the name Hamilton for a tree for sure!

  12. What a fun weekend! I am anxiously awaiting going to see Fantastic Beasts! Its out here too but the next couple of weeks are too busy to imagine going so I will have to wait for a bit! Love the tree! I’ve been wanting to put up ours but my husband wont let me yet. I have to wait until December 1st.

  13. My little sister already setup her Christmas tree at home and he had fun decorating it. But never we give names to Christmas tree.

I don’t understand why some still use a fresh tree for Christmas tree… I mean trees took years to grow, and it will help to freshen up our surroundings. What happen after the holidays? What’s the next life of the oldie fresh Christmas tree?

  14. Sounds like you had an awesome weekend! I can’t wait to see Fantastic Beasts. I will probably take my son on Monday, since he’s off from school.

  15. I think reading the Harry Potter series before seeing Fantastic Beasts is actually beneficial. I would not have understood who grindelwald was without having my prior knowledge or some of the spells. I didn’t love the movie though. It didn’t have the same feeling that I got from the Harry Potter movies. Glad to see i’m not the only one who has already put the tree up.

  16. You certainly picked a beautiful tree! Before getting to the end of the post, I though she looked like a Fran, but your sister picked a fitting name. Peggy will look great in your home for the holidays! 🙂

  17. I think you have had a wonderful weekend and the pictures are quiet amazing too. I am in love with that delicious turkey meatballs and cauliflower couscous so much. We have got home the Christmas tree as well already!
