Weekend Snapshots: 10/17/16

Good morning!

This post is being published a little later than usual because it’s Fall Break and the alarm did not go off at 4:30 this morning!

I don’t have too many pictures to show from the weekend because I spent most of it curled up in bed with my Kindle or catching up on my podcasts. (Currently listening to: Presidential – Woodrow Wilson). But I’m not complaining. These kinds of weekends are just as special to me as the ones that are packed full of events!

Friday:

The Tech Day we had on Friday was more successful than I had anticipated. Nicole and I led two sessions that focused on behavioral supports for students in the classroom. I didn’t expect many people to actually show up, but we were surprised by the turn-out and the level of participation.

In case you haven’t caught on through previous blog posts, I’ve been feeling pretty disheartened about the systems in place here. But, after Friday, I’m feeling a little more hopeful. I think people want to support their students. They just don’t always know the best way to go about doing so.

Saturday:

I stayed inside for most of the day reading Truly, Madly, Guilty but I DID leave the apartment in the morning to go to step class!

Of course.

Sunday:

I experienced a small, guilty feeling on Sunday morning while sitting on the couch reading my book. It’s absolutely gorgeous outside right now. The leaves are turning. And the weather is perfect. I know it’s not going to be this way for long so I knew I needed to take advantage of it and not spend the day in my bed again.

Luckily, Katy and Kasey wanted to go for a walk, which forced me to put on real clothes and head out the door. Aside from a few people at the park, it was quieter than usual. But Sunday mornings usually are around here.

I spent the rest of the day cooking, cleaning, and walking around our neighborhood (trying so desperately to catch up on all the podcasts. I will never catch up).

Now, I’ve got two hours to kill before Brenda’s step class this morning so I’m going to make some more coffee and attempt to tackle those dishes in the sink.

Hope you all had a relaxing, fun, productive weekend!

  1. I was on the waitlist for Truly Madly Guilty but I was like #800 and now I’m moving so I had to cancel the request and will get back on the list in Nashville! How is it?! I just discovered podcasts a couple months ago and it’s a bit overwhelming because there are so many I want to listen to! Same with books – I have so many books to read!

  2. I’m actually in the process of writing a book, so I’ve taken a break from reading. But this weekend was amazing. My hubby and I actually were able to enjoy a date night. That doesn’t happen often since we have 5 kids, but we took full advantage of our night out. And then Sunday we just vegged lol.

  3. Sounds like a nice weekend! Good for you for getting a workout! My weekend involved flying home from a trip. The cats are demanding extra attention to make up for my absence…

  4. Lovely pictures Divya.
Good that your weekend was so restful.

My weekend was full of fun and partying for a friends daughters wedding.:):)
In fact the festivities started from Wednesday onwards.
    Tired now….

  5. Those weekends are needed to recharge, we had a weekend like that too. I am not listening to any podcasts, thought I need to start. I am reading tons lately! I just finished the newest Nicholas Sparks book and started an older I missed in my hectic last two years. It was so nice to just be and read.

  6. That is my kind of weekend. Exercise and the outdoors. Although I do love to watch the Packers play or see a good movie too.

  7. What a lovely post. It reminds me to be thankful for what I have and to get out and do more. I spent all morning tying to get one task done, but it never worked! Urg! But, I know there’s always tomorrow. Thanks again for sharing this.

  8. My life has been non stop running my Mom to her appointments and me to my clients and my doctor appointments. The days seem to be running together lately and I don’t really remember what I did which day! I am currently reading The Dead Game–you will probably see my review of it this week or next week sometime.
