Things I’m Loving Thursday #11

Good morning!

It’s been extra cold here in the mornings so I made myself a cup of tea, curled up under my blanket, and am writing this post a little later than I normally do. (Anyone else find it SO much harder to get up and outta bed when the temperatures drop? I just want to stay in bed all day!)

Below you will find a short list of a couple things I’ve been loving this week. As always, share something you’re loving this week with me in the comments section of this post!

  • Amber Glass Spray Bottles

amber glass spray botltesI’ve been busy over here concocting some homemade, household cleaners. (You can find so many different non-toxic, chemical-free recipes on Pinterest!). I’ve received a couple messages asking where I purchased the glass, reusable bottles so I figured I’d share it with anyone interested. I have been been buying most things from Sally’s Organics on Amazon. She has all different types of re-fillable glass bottles and cosmetic containers that are affordable! I also love that her spray bottles come with individual labels so you know what each bottle contains.

  • FITzee Foods

Last week, I received a package from FITzee foods that contained a variety of meals for us to try! It is unlike any other food service I’ve subscribed to since moving here at Harrogate since the food comes prepared and portioned out. This past weekend was spent with family so I knew that I wouldn’t have time to go grocery shopping and prepare meals for the week. So, each day this week, I’ve been taking a FITzee meal to work. I just pop it into the microwave for a few minutes and it’s ready to go.

And, unlike other microwaveable meals that come with hidden preservatives and a TON of sodium, all of these meals are made with all-natural ingredients. I also appreciate that each meal comes with nutritional information so I can use my Weight Watchers calculator to determine how many points are in the meal. (Yesterday’s lunch was only 5 WW points and extremely filling!) In addition to the zero-guilt, it’s also been wonderful to have zero prep and zero clean-up after each FITzee meal.

Fitzee Foods is offering Eat Teach Blog readers a 15%-off promotion if you want to try out their service. You can just head on over to their website and use the code: eatteachblog15. The code expires on November 30th, so be sure to order soon! It’ll be worth it!

  • Tennessee Counties Vote on Wine

I ran into Food City yesterday before heading into work to pick up a few items. On my way out, I noticed a sign that said “Where’s the Wine?” I looked up the website listed and it turns out that, on the ballot in November, you can vote for approval of wine in retail food stores. Heck. Yes. It’s about time. I don’t know if this is actually going to pass and be approved, but it sure is a step in the right direction! (They currently sell beer at the Food City in Tazewell. ALL the beer. Like a whole aisle dedicated to beer. But not wine).

  • Wine Awesomeness Shipment

Since we can’t purchase wine at our local grocery stores, I’ve been having to rely on the shipments we get. Every time a shipment arrives, it feels like Christmas in this house! I currently subscribe to both WinC and Wine Awesomeness. But, right now, Wine Awesomeness is providing Eat Teach Blog readers with a free month of wine! (All you have to pay for is shipping). 1. Here is Newfoundland, Canada we have liquor stores attached to our grocery stores (in the same store in smaller towns)

I imagine it makes shopping way easier, I am not a huge wine drinker to be honest BUT this wine shipment seems pretty cool also!

  2. I don’t make my own household products I buy them. I know i should probably make my own. I wouldn’t mind seeing wine in the grocery store but I would tend to still shop at the discounted wine store 15 minutes away due to price and selection. I love my wine!

  3. I make my own laundry soap, but I buy everything else. We have wine in out grocery stores, but can’t purchase liquor on Sundays( unless it can be consumed at a bar, restaurant, or winery).

My fave for the week is that we are enjoying the final moments of warm weather.

  4. What ever the question I always vote yes to Wine! That prepared meal service looks interesting and yes my nutritional background usually shames me into avoiding prepared foods but that looked pretty good.

  5. 1. I buy my own grocery products.
    2. I’d vote a big “YES” on wine. Wine is God’s way of rewarding hardworking, homeschool moms like myself 🙂
    3. I’m loving the weather – it is spring/summer here in South Africa! I can smell fresh beginnings all over the show

    1. CORRECT. It drives me crazy. They consider themselves a “dry county” but then have aisles of beer because it’s so deeply rooted in their culture. So they allow it. If they’re gonna make a loophole for beer, why not wine?

  6. Awesome, I’d never heard of Fitzee foods, but I’m certainly going to check them out! Thanks for the review and bringing new products to awareness!

  7. Yes, I don’t see anything wrong with selling wine in stores. We cook with it, it’s a perfect companion to most meals (maybe not breakfast lol) – it makes sense!

  8. I’ve been in states that have wine in stores and wine not in stores. In my experience, I don’t think regulating it (having it in stores vs not) makes any difference, and it is more convenient to have it in the store. As Jackie notes–it is a companion and often an ingredient with cooking, as well.

    1. Right! It’s interesting because, at the local grocery stores, they sell cocktail mixers. But no liquor. So, they KNOW that people are going to find the alcohol in some way or another. Why not just make life easier for us and include the liquor on the shelves too?!

    1. Never heard of Fitzee foods
      Thanks for Introducing us.
Will look into it & order.
yay!! Anything to make life easier.

    1. Hahaha, I was the same way when I first got here. I had never really known this was a thing until recently!

  9. To answer your questions, I’m totally not opposed to buying household products at the store, and I’m really surprised you can’t buy wine at your grocery store! :O Even at the commissary on base we can get alcohol (and for cheap too! ❤️)

  10. We are having first flurries of the season while I write. Sitting in comforter with a cup of tea felt so awesome. We love most of the things homemade, your household cleaners look interesting. Need to get the recipe. As for food we love to cook at home as well. More economical and custom made lol.

  11. First of all, I’d like to share something I’m loving. It’s you. I love you. On Thursday and every day.

Second, I would like the record to state that I introduced you to wine awesomeness. Because I’m awesome.

And third, should I try fitzee? It seems like it’d be good for me. Please share your thoughts ASAP.

Love you, but I already said that.

  12. I would definitely vote “yes” to wine in grocery stores. In fact, they’re in the process of phasing that into Ontario right now. But I know other places in Canada have sold wine at the grocery store for ages already. There are a lot of liquor stores around so it’s pretty easy to pick up a bottle of wine, but I can’t wait to be able to do all my shopping at the same store!

  13. Wow, I can’t believe they don’t sell wine in the grocery stores there. That would not go over well here in WI. 🙂 Those frozen meals sound awesome! And I’m going to check out the wine subscription…looks like some great mail to me!

  14. I buy most of them at stores but I make a foot care scrub at home. Love the spray bottles!
If beer is sold in grocery stores, I see no reason why wine shouldn’t be. A subscription would be cool too.
Started music classes with my girl – loving it this week.

  15. The fact that you get wine shipped to your house is pure awesomeness! We can’t buy wine in our grocery stores in Connecticut either. We have to go to a Wine Shop or Package Store. It’s kind of a pain.

  16. Wouldn’t mind trying the wine. I have a wine here I got from my local Dutch Wagon Market it’s Mango wine very good/tasty.

  17. I buy my own products at the store. I am not good at creating a recipe like for cleaners.

This week is great because I will only have 2 weeks left til we can find out if baby #4 is a boy or girl and can’t wait!

  18. Those microwaveable meals sound awesome, they’re convenient to have at home especially during busy nights. I would totally say yes to the wine voting! Pretty cool.

  19. Wow! That’s a lot of things to be happy about this Thursday! I can’t believe you guys are voting for wine, that’s awesome! I wish we voted for that instead of voting for the next president. That would be so much more worth it!

  20. I had the chance to review some of the FITzee Foods and I am in love with them already. I tried 2 meals so far and my husband tried 2 as well. I can’t wait to try the spiced pumpkin pancakes yum
