Things I’m Loving Thursday #6

Yesterday, Katy and I decided to go to the spin class at 6PM. Not because we enjoyed it. But because we both forked over $20 for three classes so we had to take advantage of the fact that we already paid for it. (Although, if I’m being honest, we’re probably better off letting the money go to waste).

Fortunately for us, we’ve got Brenda’s class this evening and I will not sleep through it like I did on Tuesday.

Brenda’s class is something that gets me smiling each and every week. But there are a couple other things making me happy and I always love sharing them on Thursdays! Feel free to play along in the comments and share a few things you’re loving lately!

  • The Hamilton Soundtrack

I know I’m late to the party here. Like extremely late. But, at least I showed up? Sister and Megan just saw the musical in New York and Sister is on a Hamilton high. While in DC this past weekend, Sister made me listen to the soundtrack and explained each song in depth – including the historical background of all the people involved. I was instantly hooked and I cannot get enough Hamilton in my life right now. I have it playing on my way to work, on my way back from work, while I’m in the shower, while I’m washing the dishes, etc. And, if that’s not enough, I’ve done extensive research on Alexander Hamilton and pinned several articles to read later regarding the musical, Hamilton’s history, and the songs.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts Unsweetened Coconut Iced Coffee

I’ve always preferred Starbucks to Dunkin. But Dunkin’ won me over this week when I found out I could add in coconut flavoring without adding any sweetener. I would have polished off the entire drink if I didn’t have to board a flight a few hours later. (Me + caffeine + flying on an airplane = major anxiety). However, I found out there’s a Dunkin’ in Morristown, which is only 45 minutes away from work – so I might be making a trip some time soon!

  • New Friends

    SAA

When Ankur and I were deciding between schools, I was drawn to LMU because of the incredible community they had here for spouses and family members. I loved how involved the spouses were and I loved that they all seemed to form strong friendships with one another. Before we got here, I joked with everyone that “I was going to be the best darn spouse and help create the best spouse activities and I was going to be friends with all the spouses.” But it felt so far off and removed. A little superficial at the time. I was going to be friends with all the people and then leave and never look back after our time here in Harrogate. Except now that I’m here, I’m realizing just how fortunate I am to have stumbled across these people. This past week has been a bit challenging for me at work and I’ve relied on these people to vent to and seek advice from. And they’ve been so supportive and loving. I’m so grateful to have found these girls and our friendship is anything but superficial.

  1. Girl I am soooooooo obsessed with Hamilton too! I love the entire album. I listen tonit while I drive to and from work and it makes the traffic almost bearable. Glad you love it too! Are you going to try to see it when the show is touring?

  2. I’m equally late to the Hamilton party! I keep hearing it’s amazing but I haven’t listened to the soundtrack yet. It’s definitely on my to do list though

  3. I have been going to the spin classes once a week for a month now and honestly, I dread doing spinning. But at the end of the class, I feel like I’m on the top of the world. It’s so freaking good.

    Loved reading your thursday updates!

  4. I’m in the same boat with the exercise class. I just paid for a class the other night, it was the worst 50 minutes of my life, but I paid for the class so I wasn’t just going to leave. My roommate wants to go back again and is guilting me into buying a membership. Instead I just purchased a rock climbing membership and told her I would go along with her and rock climb instead of taking a terrible class again! Haha!

  5. OMG and I am obsessed with Hamilton! I saw it in NYC last January and have been listening to it non-stop (Hamilton pun) ever since. So excited for it to come to California so I can see it again!

  6. Making new friends is great. Love making connections and learning about new people and exchanging ideas. I have always wanted to join a spin class but not sure I could keep up.

    1. That’s the best thing about spin! Most classes happen in the dark so nobody can see it anyway. And you can adjust your difficulty level for what works for you!

  7. I’m even later to the Hamilton party than you are! All my friends have been raving about it, and quoting it for a long time now, so I seriously need to listen to the music and hopefully get out to see the show!

  8. Sounds like a productive day. I didn’t know you could add coconut flavor to your coffee at Dunkin’. Good to know. Not sure I have a preference for franchise, but I do like coconut!

  9. It is so pleasent to read that you have encountered some new people, and other things that have made you happy! I hope this upcoming week brings you delight.

    Xoxo
