Things I’m Loving Lately #17 [Link-Up]

One and a half more days.

Just one and a half more days until freedom!

And three more days until we are on our way to California. My excitement is on overload this morning. (<—And this is before I’ve had my coffee so you know this is serious business).

The anticipation of winter-break is what I’m loving most this week, but in true Thursday fashion, here are a few other things that are making me smile. This week, you can link up your own “Things I’m Lovin'” posts down below. And, if you don’t have one, feel free to share in the comments what’s making you smile this week!

Dollar Store Finds

Last week, while Nicole and I were walking around “the mall” in Middlesborough to give our husbands some quiet time to study, I popped into the Dollar Store. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for but was pleasantly surprised to find all sorts of fun Christmas goodies. I filled my cart up with a bunch of these cute tin boxes and a few Christmas cards. Then, once I got home, I baked brownies to put in the boxes and wrote each of my co-workers a personal card. It made me happy that I was able to give them a gift without having to break the bank!

The Silly Things My Kids Say

On Monday, we had “Crazy Santa Hat Day” and all the teachers and kids came to school with their festive headgear. One of the kids pulled off his Santa hat and said, “Hey Ms. Divya. I have another hat on under here.” I asked him why he had two hats on. And his response was, “Well, I had to put another one on because my head is real small. Even though my brain is really big.”

My French Fries Ornament

Nicole brought over a gift last night and I nearly died of laughter as I unwrapped it. If you know me even a little bit, you know French Fries are my weakness. I want them all the time. I will get a salad with fat free dressing….and a side of French Fries. Hey, at least I’ve got some level of balance? But, in all seriousness, French Fries are the reason I will always have a layer of pudge on me. (Well, that, and wine). I LOVE my new ornament.

Thrive Gives

I’ve talked about Thrive Market a couple times on this blog. It’s an online marketplace where you can order healthy, organic snacks and staples at a discounted price. The site works like Amazon and requires you to sign up for an annual membership. However, if you’re a teacher, veteran, student, or are making below a certain income, you can apply for Thrive Gives and your annual membership is waived. Now, we have access to discounted prices without having to pay an annual fee. All you have to do is fill out a short application form and they’ll e-mail you back and let you know if you qualify!

Questions of the Day:

  • Do you shop at The Dollar Store?
  • What’s your favorite Christmas ornament?
  • Do you use Thrive Market?

  1. Duh!!! The dollar store!!! Where was this post when I was looking for cookie tins the other day? lol. I’ll have to remember this for next year. 🙂

  2. Kids say the darnedest things but they never fail to make me smile! Your french fry ornament is so cute!! While I can’t say I’m a french fry gal myself (I actually hate them…) I do share your love of wine. Nothing beats a nice glass of wine after a long week. Have a great day and hang in there it’s almost Friday and Christmas break!!

  3. The dollar store can get me into some real trouble, so I do try to avoid it. Too cheap, means I buy more stuff…and then it’s not too cheap. 😉

My tree doesn’t have many ornaments, and my favorites are all of them. Everyone has a special meaning and tells a story about our family. 🙂 My newest one is gift from a friend that was handcrafted from a stick she found on the side of the road. She painted the state of Alabama and placed a little silver heart where Huntsville is. We are moving in a couple of months, and though we only lived here for two years, it’s been a very special part of our journey, and I’m glad I have it to commemorate this chapter. 🙂

And I had never heard of Thrive until you mentioned it here today. I will have to check it out.
