Still Got It. But Not Really.

The weekend has, once again, come and gone. These past few months have sped by – can’t believe it’s already June! With all our testing done, and only 8 more school days left, our year is slowly and surely coming to an end.

Friday:

On Friday evening, we celebrated the end of a long, stressful week by having a Mexican-themed dinner party at Tessa’s.

Benji, Tessa’s boyfriend, grilled the meat outside, while Tessa took care of the veggies + rice.

And I took care of the margaritas. Obviously.

Tessa isn’t coming back next year – she’ll be moving down to SoCal to be closer to family. Which is really, really sad. Although it’s only her second year of teaching, she’s so good at what she does and I feel inspired when I watch her interact with her kiddos. We’re definitely going to feel it next year when she’s not there.

Dinner was amazing and I’m always so happy when I get to spend time with these ladies outside of work.

After dinner, I went back to my apartment. But then, on a whim, decided to drive up to San Francisco to see these folks.

Lynsey and her boyfriend (Eddie) are in town for a few days and I was dying to see her before she signed her life away started her residency program. The four of us had a quick drink and then went to go meet up with Hema and her friends at another bar.

Vodka + cranberry (x3) = still feeling it on Sunday. #StillGotIt #ButNotReally

Saturday:

After going to bed at 5AM and waking up at 8AM, Hema and I drove to Salinas from SF. After a stop for coffee. And water. Lots of water. When we got to Salinas, we were greeted by the cutest baby ever.

And the most delicious food ever.

Bhaiya made himself a Long Island Iced Tea.

IMG_3148

Which I would normally partake in. But after Friday’s festivities, I just couldn’t.

IMG_3150

Long Island Iced Teas taste better when you use a crazy straw. Or, in my case, when you’re not hungover.

We spent the rest of the day bumming around and napping. Primarily because everything hurt when I moved.

Sunday:

After nearly 11 hours of sleep, I was feeling much better. Bhaiya brought home some Starbucks, which, instantaneously put me in a better mood.

Oh coffee. Some day I’ll be able to quit you. Today is not that day.

For lunch, we decided to hop in the car and drive to North Salinas to get some sammies.

Isn’t his face just THE CUTEST?

I think it’s been a month since I’ve had a sandwich.

IMG_3176

Beth and I always joke around about how we’re both like Joey from friends. We’re obsessed with sandwiches. And we both consider ourselves sandwich connoisseurs. So, the fact that I’ve gone a month without eating a sandwich is a pretty big deal.

IMG_3177

I ordered the Spiffy Tiffy which is chicken + pesto + avocado + mushrooms + cheese. So much happiness.

It’s also been over a month since I’ve had Yogurtland.

Is this cookie divider a new thing? What a smart concept.

Now, after that weekend splurge, I’m back on plan for the rest of the week.

Shortly after we got back to their house, Hema and I packed up and went back to San Jose. We stopped at Barn Fresh Produce to pick up some veggies and salsa for the week. The owners gave me a free orchid on our way out because I come there so often. Hahaha. Let’s hope I don’t kill it like I killed Bert and Ernie.

Now I’m off to chop up some sweet potatoes, do some major roasting, and get my life in order before tomorrow morning. Good night!

Questions of the Day:

  • What was the highlight of your weekend?
  • What’s one thing you’re looking forward to this week?

  1. Vodka cranberries used to be my go to drink. Now they’d knock me on the floor. You’re food looks delicious! I wish we had some new restaurants around here. I’ve yet to get froyo at Cherry Berry. I’m looking forward to my first week of summer break!
