It’s so weird that I didn’t get to see this little face this weekend. I think I’ve seen him every single weekend for the past month and a half, so my weekend felt a little incomplete.
So. Freaking. Cute. Can’t even stand it.
But it was a productive one filled with errands, friends, and celebration. So I really can’t complain too much.
Friday:
I strolled into work a little later than usual (oops!). And, I was greeted with such a fun surprise:
Bruni went above and beyond to get cute notes from the staff and fun little gifts and trinkets that she knew I would love. I swear, she knows me so well after this year!
Both her and Tessa got me these wine sippy cups. AND I still have the one that Nikki got me for Christmas. My collection is growing. Who wants to go on a picnic?
We also had a Parent Brunch to acknowledge and appreciate the parents that volunteered so many hours to our school and our students.
And after our “walk-through” to make sure all of our boxes were labelled correctly, Bruni and I said goodbye to Room 6 for the last time.
Such a bittersweet moment. I’m really looking forward to our new building and for our school to continue expanding. I’m also looking forward to returning to our school with a little more experience under my belt. Coming in with the foundation we’ve built THIS year (with both our students and our families) is going to allow us to hit the ground running come August. However, it was really emotional to say goodbye to some of our staff members. I love my work family so much.
After work on Friday, one of my co-workers, Julia, had a few of us over for some drinks and nibbles on her patio.
I’m pretty sure Julia should quit her job as a Kindergarten teacher and go into interior designing. Her apartment looked like something on the cover of Pottery Barn or West Elm. Everything was so perfectly put together. And the way she served all the snacks definitely beat my “serving-out-of-the-pot-to-reduce-the-amount-of-dishes-I-have-to-do” look.
It was a blast hanging out with these ladies.
We stayed out on the porch chatting until past 11 and then decided to call it quits and go home. Party animal. I know.
Saturday:
Since I’ve been going to Salinas nearly every weekend for the past month and a half, I’ve been putting off a lot of little errands because I don’t have time during the week and I’m never here on the weekend!
I woke up early to go meet the TNT team at Los Gatos Creek Trail for our 3-mile run. I made it JUST in time, only to realize (after looking like a fool) that we weren’t even meeting at the LG Creek Trail. Fail. So I ran the 3-miles by myself. After, I did some shopping at Target and then went to get a car wash. Classic Car Wash on Hamilton is SO COOL. I paid $8 at the start, put my car in neutral, went through the massive car wash while I was still in the driver’s seat, and upon exiting the wash, a bunch of guys just toweled off my car as it was getting off the track. And it spit me out right at the exit. Quickest car wash ever.
I felt like a two-year old the entire time. No matter how old I get, these kind of car washes will always amaze me.
I then proceeded to eat froyo for lunch. I definitely fell off the clean-eating wagon when the 30-days were up. Like completely. All the things pictured below (aside from the chopped almonds) are off-plan. Oops. I can’t even confidently say that I’m going to jump back on the plan. Because I’m going to Turkey and….well…I want to try all the things there!
But I can still focus on moderation and then worry about getting back on plan when I get back from Turkey.
After frozen yogurt and a few more errands, I went back home to get ready for a birthday party.
You know when you’re in elementary school and you get a bday invite from a cool kid and you feel all giddy with excitement? The same thing happens when you’re a teacher and you get a bday invite from one of your favorite kiddos.
I didn’t stay for too long, but it was so fun hanging out with the little ones as they ran around and around the house and bounced from one place to the next.
His parents did an incredible job decorating for him and his baby brother (who turned 1!) and the homemade food was absolutely delicious.
I’m SO going to miss these little ones this summer.
After the birthday party, I met up with Aaron, a friend from middle school (and also high school. And UCLA). We met for a quick drink at Tessora’s in Downtown Campbell. No pictures were taken because we only had 45 minutes with one another (after not seeing each other for 3 years!) since Aaron had to drive back up to Davis and it was already so late. Every second was spent chatting. I really miss that one in my life. He was working down in LA when I moved up here and, now that he’s up here, he’s in law school and insanely busy. Hopefully we’ll get to hang out again in the next couple of weeks.
Sunday:
I woke up to run some more errands (AKA go to Target to return some things I bought yesterday and then buy even MORE things). I had plans to meet Tiffany at 10:30 for brunch so I made my way down to meet her, but first stopped for some of this:
The Mint Mojito Iced Coffee has GOT to be one of the best things on their menu.
The last two times Tiffany and I had brunch, we went to Bills in Willow Glen BOTH times. We decided we needed to switch things up, so went to Scrambl’z off Almaden.
There’s a bus in the middle of all the seating. And you can reserve the bus to enhance your dining experience.
We opted for a table. But, I’m pretty sure the next time we go, I may try to call beforehand…
The menu was so overwhelming, but we managed to pick a couple items. We were both really happy with our choices. So much so that I went ahead and bought a Groupon for the place and now I’m forced to go back again.
But what really happened was that I bought the Groupon in a hurry in hopes that I could use it toward our bill, but I didn’t read the fine print (I mean….who does nowadays?) and didn’t see that it wasn’t applicable on the weekends. Oops.
Thank you, Tiffany, for brunch and, not one, but two beautiful gifts. So glad I got to spend the day with you!
Now, I’m about to shower, pass out, and wake up early to finish up packing. It’s difficult to pack for the next four weeks, knowing I’m not going to be able to come back here for anything. I’m calling it quits for right now and will double check I have everything post-sleep and post-coffee tomorrow morning.
Good night! 🙂
