Scenes from the Week!

I assumed that once I got back up north and back to routine, it would be easy peasy cheesy to get back to blogging regularly. However, this was a little more difficult than I thought. We started professional development the day after I got back up to NorCal and my life sort of picked up and I’m still trying to chase after it and catch up.

So where have I been for the past two weeks?

  • Sitting in Professional Development. Sessions have been so GREAT. Our network seriously listens to feedback around PD and I found that sessions were so much more relevant to my role at Rocketship this year.

It’s also really helpful having a year at RBM under my belt so I already know the culture, the staff, and my students. Which makes these sessions that much more useful.

I’m also really looking forward to working with our new principal. She was the AP last year, but having stepped into a larger role, it’s very obvious to see how passionate she is about the vision for our school and she understands the value of a well-rounded child (and not just an academically advanced one).

I am ecstatic to get this school year started. We have a new building, some pretty amazing new staff members, and I get to BE REUNITED WITH MY LITTLE ONES.

One more week of PD and they will be back on August 18th. It’s going to be a great year.

  • Reunion-izing With EVERYONE. Although we are technically back to work, I wanted to squeeze in as much social time in as I can during these couple of weeks. Because I know once the kids get back, it’s going to be impossible to do all the things. So, I’m definitely lacking on sleep right now. But it’s worth it!

rieber 3n reunion

On Wednesday, I drove up to the city for a Rieber 3N reunion with some of my floormates (Rieber was the residence hall I lived in during my first two years at UCLA!). We definitely had fun browsing through old pictures and yearbooks.

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since we all met one another. They’re my favorites.

  • Salinas. I have been coming here for the past two weekends and I know that my time with the baby toddler is going to decrease dramatically once the school year is up and running (and they’ll be out of town for some time) so I need to take advantage of my time with him!

I loved being able to celebrate his birthday with him last weekend. And today, we went for a walk to the park, finger painted, and played in the tent.

  • With my Twinny. Hema’s been in town for the past week since she’s finishing up her internship with YouTube before she heads back to Boston!

So our life’s been full of Coffee Lab, Google Bikes, and ALL THE FOOD.

Now, I am signing off and spending time with the fam! And probably heading to bed early since we’ll be commuting from Salinas EARLY tomorrow morning. Oops. It’s impossible to leave family. Sorry, not sorry. GOOD NIGHT!

  1. OMG I want to look at old year books while playing in a tent!! That just sounds like way too much fun! I think I want to buy a tent and just pitch it in the middle of my apartment and see what people say when they come over lol!

  2. Saturday night we went to a charity event, then Sunday we deep cleaned the house & prepped for the week. Today is the first day of school….wish me luck!
