Heads Up Weekend

It’s been such a wonderful weekend – I think my favorite weekends are the ones that are equal parts productive, relaxing, and adventurous. It works with my indecisive nature.

Friday:

After work, we had a work happy hour at Aqui in Willow Glen. They had a new kind of swirl, so obviously that was on the agenda.

swirl It was pretty much a cranberry-vodka mixed in with their industrial strength margarita. (AKA I didn’t need to order a second one).

After we ate our food and finished the last of the swirls, I pulled out my phone and we all proceeded to play Heads Up in the restaurant. I swear, there’s something about winter that makes this game really exciting. After two rounds, I decided to call it a night and went home to get in bed!

Saturday:

Because I went to bed so early on Friday, I was up by 5:30 and out by 7AM. I still hadn’t finished the 10th episode of Serial so I grabbed a coffee from Starbucks and then went for a walk on the Los Gatos Creek trail while listening to the last half hour of it.

I found myself having to rewind and re-listen a couple times because it was just so darn gorgeous and I was completely distracted by everything. Don’t you just love how it looks outside after the rain?

When I was done listening, I immediately called Sissy so we could talk about it. But she didn’t answer. And I didn’t feel like it was socially appropriate to call anybody that early on a Saturday. I almost wanted to grab somebody on the trail and be like, “HELLO? CAN WE CHAT ABOUT THIS PLEASE?

(Don’t worry. I have some level of self-control.)

Instead, I hopped on the swings and called my Mama. Because it’s TOTALLY acceptable to play on the swings as a 20-something, yeah?

After I chatted with my mom, I drove over to Target, but had to pull over so I could stare at this beauty in the sky. I just can’t get over how pretty it’s been lately. I love the rain.

Later in the afternoon, I had to go to my co-worker’s baby shower so I needed to pick up a gift and Target was the only place that was open that early! Which was a really terrible decision on my part because I walked out with two bags full of things that I didn’t know I needed until I was in there. Like fun, festive Christmas cushions. I NEED THEM OKAY?!

We were holding the baby shower AT school, which was great because I was able to go a bit early and get some work done. Natalia, who is our Business Operations Manager, planned the whole thing.  She also happens to be one of my favorite people EVER. Business & Operations Manager = BOM. Like her role is actually called The BOM. SHE IS THE BOMB. And the BOM. Okay sorry for the tangent.

It was very obvious that she put a lot of thought and care into every single detail of the shower.

While we waited for Dania to come, we played a bit of Heads Up. (It’s a serious obsession).

When Dania finally got there, she was so, SO touched and surprised that she actually started crying. (I think she was also slightly worried that she was late — Natalia had told her that it was important that they “meet on Saturday to go over some paperwork for an audit.” Sneaky Natalia).

After eating some delicious pozole, we played some games. When prizes are at stake, I become super competitive.

One of the games had me feeding Bruni some baby food while I was blindfolded. We won that one too.

My prize was…….WINE GLASSES! Very fitting, no?

At the end of the shower, Natalia had us fill out these pages with “wishes” for Dania’s new baby girl! I love this idea and I hope that, when I have a baby shower of my own, I collect some special things like this to share with future baby.

Now I’m hanging out on the couch next to the X-mas tree trying to get some work done so tomorrow can be all FUN AND GAMES! 🙂

Our Christmas tree has officially been exposed to the public about two hours ago. I know, I know. The anticipation was OUTTA CONTROL.

In case you don’t follow me on Instagram (which you totally should if you’re into ALL THE WINE PICTURES), please meet our new Christmas tree.

Questions of the Day:

  • Do you name Christmas trees? Do you name other inanimate objects?
  • Do you prefer wine glasses with stems or without?
