Tips for Using Essential Oils to Fight Sickness

Typically, when November/December hits, I worry that I will come down with a fever. Or, at the very least, I fear that I’ll develop a sore throat or cough that I can’t get rid of. (This is partially due to the weather. But, also because I work at an elementary school. Where kids just LOVE to hug you – no matter how sick they are).

Doterra On Guard and Breathe

However, since I started using a combination of these blends, I’ve been feeling better than ever. On Guard (Protective Blend) and Breathe (Respiratory Blend) are getting me through this flu season and I am so grateful. I’ve been using them in my diffuser, putting a drop of On Guard on my toothpaste, and keeping my rollers on hand whenever I may need it!

    1. Yes! I think the flip-flopping of the weather makes it worse for me. I used to get sick ALL the time a few years ago when I worked at an elementary school. I had to pop in and out of several classrooms during the winter so I was in and out of air conditioning all the time. The fluctuation is not good for anyone!

  6. Absolutely! These two oils work great during sickness time. The other one I’ve used when I was out of OnGard was Teatree oil. I started getting a sore throat at work and I had Teatree oil in my handbag so I put a couple drops of my tongue couple times a day. I didn’t have to do it again for another couple of days. I did it again and It kept the sickness away. Then my OnGard finally came. Yay! I never did get sick.

  7. I’ve heard so much about these, but do not know of anyone locally that sells them. I’ve got to research that. I suffer each fall and spring from regional allergies. I’ve been using local honey and that’s helped some, but need something like this for nights.

    1. Hey Jennie! You can actually sign up for a wholesale membership online (similar to Costco) and then order that way.

If you’re only interested in buying a couple oils instead of an entire membership, let me know and I can order them through my membership account and ship them to you!

  8. I love BOTH of these products!! I put breathe on last week when I felt my asthma kicking in with stress and it helped me relax and quite literally BREATHE.

  9. We use essential oils in our diffuser all the time. I like Thieves Oil, Eucalyptus, and Cinnamon. I haven’t used DoTerra yet, but plan to in the near future. We combine essential oils with vitamin c, Echinacea, and homemade elderberry syrup. Knock on wood, the kids have been in school almost 3 months and no colds yet!

    1. Thieves is one I haven’t tried since I buy Doterra and they don’t make one! I’m so curious about it though. I’ve heard great things!

  10. I used to work in a school and I always got sick. I’ve just started using essential oils. I have been using peppermint when I feel a migraine coming on. So far it’s helped cut down on the number of times I’ve actually had to use my migraine meds. I need to explore them more to see what else I can do with them. Thanks for getting me started on learning more about essential oils.
