Typically, when November/December hits, I worry that I will come down with a fever. Or, at the very least, I fear that I’ll develop a sore throat or cough that I can’t get rid of. (This is partially due to the weather. But, also because I work at an elementary school. Where kids just LOVE to hug you – no matter how sick they are).
However, since I started using a combination of these blends, I’ve been feeling better than ever. On Guard (Protective Blend) and Breathe (Respiratory Blend) are getting me through this flu season and I am so grateful. I’ve been using them in my diffuser, putting a drop of On Guard on my toothpaste, and keeping my rollers on hand whenever I may need it!
Primary Benefits of On Guard
- Supports healthy immune and respiratory function
- Protects against environmental threats
- Supports the body’s natural antioxidant defenses
- Promotes healthy circulation
- Energizing and uplifting aroma
Uses of On Guard
- Add two to three drops in a veggie capsule for an immune boost.
- Add to water for an effective all-purpose surface cleaner.
- Soak sliced apples in water and a few drops for a healthy, immune-boosting snack.
- Combine a few drops of doTERRA On Guard with Fractionated Coconut Oil for a natural hand cleanser.
Directions for Use of On Guard:
Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
Internal use: Dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid.
Topical use: Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.
Primary Benefits of Breathe
- Apply topically to the chest and breathe deeply to enjoy a cooling, invigorating vapor.
- Promotes a restful night’s sleep
- Helps minimize the effects of seasonal threats
Uses of Breathe
- Diffuse, inhale directly from palms, or rub on chest or feet when seasonal and environmental threats are high.
- Use when outdoors to minimize the effects of seasonal threats.
- Diffuse at bedtime for a restful night’s sleep.
- Diffuse or inhale directly from palms, or rub on chest when environmental threats are high.
Directions for Use of Breathe
Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
Topical use: Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.

The breathe one sounds heavenly and something I should add to my airplane routine so that I can sleep. I usually use peppermint oil mixed with other oils for my hair to promote stimulation and because quite frankly I enjoy the scent! Lol
eatteachblog says
I should start using peppermint oil! I put lavender in my hair, but didn’t realize that peppermint helped with growth as well.
Wren says
The past year I’ve been all about essential oils & I have a diffuser running at least once a day! I had heard of this brand, but it’s nice to hear what certain kinds can do!
Tara L says
My husband needs this right about now. The weather and his allergies is making him sick. He had to take off today, boo.
eatteachblog says
Aw man. Poor guy. Everyone seems to catch something this time of year. Well, I hope he’s feeling better! Definitely consider looking into these oils 🙂 They have been a lifesaver!
Natalie says
When you diffuse do you mix them or diffuse separately? How many drops of each?
blair villanueva says
I sometimes use essential oils to make me a warm during cold season. And drinking lots of water, and hotntea makes my flu go away.
Amber Myers says
I always hear about these. I still haven’t tried them out. I tend to just drink a lot of water during flu season and hope for the best!

My family and I could definitely use these essential oils this week. This weather doesn’t help as it has been cold on day and warm the next.
eatteachblog says
Yes! I think the flip-flopping of the weather makes it worse for me. I used to get sick ALL the time a few years ago when I worked at an elementary school. I had to pop in and out of several classrooms during the winter so I was in and out of air conditioning all the time. The fluctuation is not good for anyone!
Sabrina says
Absolutely! These two oils work great during sickness time. The other one I’ve used when I was out of OnGard was Teatree oil. I started getting a sore throat at work and I had Teatree oil in my handbag so I put a couple drops of my tongue couple times a day. I didn’t have to do it again for another couple of days. I did it again and It kept the sickness away. Then my OnGard finally came. Yay! I never did get sick.

I need to start using oils at home. I went on vacation earlier this year, and every night they would mix which ever oils we chose and it made the hotel room smell so nice!
Jennie says
I’ve heard so much about these, but do not know of anyone locally that sells them. I’ve got to research that. I suffer each fall and spring from regional allergies. I’ve been using local honey and that’s helped some, but need something like this for nights.
eatteachblog says
Hey Jennie! You can actually sign up for a wholesale membership online (similar to Costco) and then order that way.
If you’re only interested in buying a couple oils instead of an entire membership, let me know and I can order them through my membership account and ship them to you!

I love BOTH of these products!! I put breathe on last week when I felt my asthma kicking in with stress and it helped me relax and quite literally BREATHE.

We use essential oils in our diffuser all the time. I like Thieves Oil, Eucalyptus, and Cinnamon. I haven’t used DoTerra yet, but plan to in the near future. We combine essential oils with vitamin c, Echinacea, and homemade elderberry syrup. Knock on wood, the kids have been in school almost 3 months and no colds yet!
eatteachblog says
Thieves is one I haven’t tried since I buy Doterra and they don’t make one! I’m so curious about it though. I’ve heard great things!

I used to work in a school and I always got sick. I’ve just started using essential oils. I have been using peppermint when I feel a migraine coming on. So far it’s helped cut down on the number of times I’ve actually had to use my migraine meds. I need to explore them more to see what else I can do with them. Thanks for getting me started on learning more about essential oils.
