Confessions of a BloggerHolic #54 [#LinkUp]

Good morning! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these. Apparently, I’ve missed sharing my secrets with the blogging universe. Either that or I miss doing embarrassing things and having you folks soothe my bruised ego by telling me I’m not all that embarrassing.

So, here we go. Here are some confessions from this past week. As always, play along in the comments and share a confession. Or just drop your own “Confessions” link in the link-up below!

1) I’ve had a 5-day weekend and I’m still not ready to go back to work.

keep children busy home

These “Illness Days” that the county gives us are just making me lazy and uninterested in working. As much as I appreciate the time off, there is something to be said about sticking to a routine.

2) Last week, two wine glasses were broken. And, last night, we broke both of our corkscrews.

Do you think that it’s a sign from the universe that I should slow down the wine intake? I ended up using that wooden spoon to push the cork into the bottle. But, maybe the Wine Gods are telling me something. (That it’s National Margarita Day and I should be drinking a margarita instead?)

3) I spent this past weekend in Atlanta and I’m pretty sure I’ve forgotten how to be functional in a city.

I have been in the country for far too long. Driving in a city was significantly harder than it’s ever been before. And seeing tall buildings just made me equal parts giddy and terrified.

Questions of the Day:

  • Are you celebrating National Margarita Day?
  • Are you a city folk or a country folk?
  • ‘FESS UP! Tell me a secret.

Now It’s Your Turn!

  1. Wine has never been a bad thing, at least I think so and am sooo guilty on also pushing the cork down with a wooden spoon which I think is totally necessary. Loved it.

  4. I love these posts!! Hey, every now and then we break a wine glass or two–maybe it’s a sign that you are due to go shopping for pretty wine glasses?! Don’t you love how I can flip the script on this whole universe thing?

I need structure too… sometimes working from home is so difficult because I get easily distracted and it’s been ages since I’ve been in a real office environment.

    Xoxo

  5. I’m with you on not wanting to go back to work after a looooong weekend! This working for a living can be the pitts sometimes, except when your paycheque comes in and you can buy more wine. There is always a bright side to everything :).

This was a fun post. I’m a country folk and enjoy the peace and tranquility this type of living provides me. I’m looking forward to following your blog and getting to know you more.

    Have a terrific day!

  6. Wow illness days?? I’m a teacher and we’ve never had any of those. The flu (or whatever is making your kiddos sick) must be REALLY bad. But I am right there with you… I LIVE on routine!

  7. This is a great glimpse into reality. Thank you for this! Just the other day, I went to open a bottle of wine with my electric bottle opener which broke. Then after digging into my over stuff junk drawer, i found a manual one. It too was broken. I ended up with particles of cork in my wine from getting a drill and trying get it out, lol. End story: no wine for me that night. Boo.

  8. #2 made me LOL! Before I even read the end of that section I was like uh-oh it’s a sign haha! Don’t worry about it, it’s just broken stuff (or is it…just kidding!) Margarita Day?? Hello, Margaritas! (plural)

  9. Confession time

Today is the first time I washed, folded and put away my laundry in weeks!!!
I like to blame the cheetah for sleeping on it and who want to disturb a sleeping cheetah???

  10. I do not believe I will be participating in Margarita day, though I’m in Texas this month.

I am definitely a city girl, that tried the more country life for a bit, but moving to a big city again, and excited about it!

Secret? Hmmmm…I’ll have to think on that.

  11. I was born and raised in the city, but my real self wants to pack up and leave the urban jungle! I would love to be able to live in a quiet countryside. Maybe when the kids are all done with college. I’m downsizing and moving to the country, or the suburbs. Love you posts. It just speaks so much of what is really going on in a person’s life.

  12. Uh-oh it must be broken glass weekend, I broke 2 myself..major butterfingers. Bonus, time to buy new glasses

  13. Fun story! Weekends rule, for those that dont work shifts 🙂 and wine, the corkscrews were just tired. Drink some bubbles! 🍾🎉 or open your bottle by banging the bottle of the bottle while it is sitting in a shoe. Just did this and it worked brilliantly! Have a pic on my instagram @lilamakelove

  14. I live in Sacramento and when I first moved up here going downtown and driving in the city always made me nervous. The one way streets totally threw me off and it felt like driving in an obstacle course between the cars, peds and bicyclists. Now I’m used to it but I can imagine how easy and relaxing it is driving in the countryside.

  15. I’ve had way too many Girl Scout cookies this week! Not a huge secret but don’t want to stop and think about the calories.

  16. The more you get to go on vacation the lesser you want to go back to work. At least that’s how I feel, lol! I think it’s awesome that you got to rest for 5 days though.

  17. Looks like that 5 day break was pretty relaxing! I wouldn’t want to go back to work either! I think it’s a sign that you have to lessen your wine intake, or maybe you just really need new wine glasses and corkscrews, lol.

  18. I completely know what it’s like to have a long weekend and then not be able to adult. It’s like we need to plan a vacation after the vacation just to get us ready to go back to real life lol. Good post!

  19. Don’t feel bad- I live in Atlanta and driving here is always a nightmare! LOL I’m at a point now where if I can’t walk, I try not to go.

  20. I 100% celebrated national margarita day! That first confession is so true. I swear no matter how many off days I have, I NEVER wanna come back to work.

  21. To answer your question I am both a city and a country girl. I’m pretty skilled at navigating around city streets. But driving in Atlanta is always scary. So trust me it’s not just you. LOL!

  22. haha I lived in a really small town until I was 14, then I moved to suburban Kansas City. I don’t think I could ever live in a town that small again! Right outside the burbs maybe…but not super rural.

  23. This is such a fun idea for a post. I spent lot of time living in Italy. Wine is always a good idea!!! Confessions… today ingot nothing done but hanging out with my girls. They wanted to “make dinner” which primarily consisted of Doritos and girl scout cookies but they did want a banana for balance.

  24. I love this link up and also, I can relate as an educator to having days off! Hahaha, I think I get spoiled with them when we do have snow days, etc. Sorry about your wine bottle and corkscrew! That definitely has to suck :/
