Good morning, everyone! Today is February 1st and, as promised, I am here to report on my January goals. How appropriate that this check-in should fall on Confessional Wednesdays. Because, though I tried to limit myself to three goals in an effort to achieve them all, I achieved 0 out of 3. So let’s run through each of them and figure out why it happened and how I can work harder in February.
Progress on January Goals:
By 1/31/16, I will read two books.
I read 1.5. I gotta be honest. I had more than enough time to read two books. But, I spent the last two weeks glued to news reports and NPR. When I made these goals at the beginning of January, I didn’t realize our crazy-ass President was going to turn the world upside down in less than a week.
By 1/31/16, I will lose 5 pounds.
Um, would you believe me if I said I gained 2 pounds instead of losing five? (If you follow me on Snapchat and saw me snap those pictures of potato chip nachos yesterday, you’re probably rolling your eyes at me and saying, “Duh”). But, I realized toward the end of January that I just can’t do it with the Weight Watchers e-tools alone. I need someone to weigh me in once a week. I need to know that somebody is going to be looking at my weight. So I signed up to attend the meetings again.
By 1/31/16, I will complete a blogging course.
I finished more than half of it. The thing is that once I learn something new through a video or a session, I’ll want to immediately go play around with my blog and my Dashboard. But, that’s part of the learning process, right? I won’t actually learn it if I don’t attempt to fiddle with it myself.
February Goals:
I’ll be back on Friday with some new monthly goals after I spend some more time thinking about actionable items I want to focus on.
Have a good one! <3
Questions of the Day:
- How did you do on your January goals?
- Or, if you set yearly resolutions, how are they going?

I love to read. One of my goals for 2017 was to allow myself more downtime to do things like read.

You may not have achieved your goals but well done for making progress, even if it was just to problem solve like for the weight loss. Hope you nail them in Feb!

I love it: “January was just a warm-up.” Amen to that! I’ve been doing fairly well on my goals, but not to perfection! So glad to have found your blog!

I didn’t quite hit my January goals either, but I love the “just a warm up” meme. So well said, I might have to steal that? 😉 And why are we not connected on SnapChat?! (cml599)

“January was just a warm-up” is actually a good attitude to have, in my opinion. Just because something doesn’t go quite as well as I hoped doesn’t mean I should ditch the idea completely. You made some progress, and that’s a win in my book.

Ugh to the news waylaying reading time. I hear you. However, I found my reading of mindless romances has increased in order to escape. I had to even give up dystopian novels as they were starting to sound eerily real all of a sudden in the Trump era.

Right now I will settle for one damn pound! Why is it so hard…

Crapola–I wanted to add blogging course to my goals for February, too! Will have to remember that for the next month 🙂
Great goals, momma! And I did the same with news this month and I think it contributed to falling behind a bit. I mean, the world has been insane lately, so who could blame us?

I feel like posting goals on the blog is a great way to stay on top of them. I totally agree with the weight loss goal, I need someone to talk to me and inspire me otherwise it won’t work (except I’m trying to gain muscle haha!)

I have not set monthly goals only ones I want to achieve by the end of the year. However I know I can do a lot better because like you, I spend a lot of time on “useless” things lol. Good to see that you are making the extra effort of achieving your goals. Even if it means having someone check your weight. Good luck.

I lost 6 pounds in January…I had just planned on losing something, so I’m great with it. – I bought a new cookbook and have read the entire thing (foodblogger problems, lol)….I didn’t even have reading down as a goal, so I’m good with that. – I did accomplish posting three new recipes a week on my blog and planning out my week in advance to make sure that I get everything done. February goals – I want to lose 2 pounds. I lost 6 in January, so I don’t want to lose too much too quick. I want to get another cookbook and read through it. I’m a little bit addicted. January was Alton Brown’s, not sure what I want this next one to be. I also want to continue 3 new recipes a week.

loved these goals. I’m going to steal and revamp for them to fit my life!! I did pretty good in January, but I’m the same – I set monthly goals but I also have yearly goals. For example, for the month of Feb I hope to read one book and stay consistent with my blogging schedule. I’m in grad school for my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and I hope i graduate with a 4.0!

Those are really good goals and, hey, who can blame you about #1?? As for #2, here’s my philosophy: if Oprah, who can, arguably, pay someone to smack the potato chip nachos out of her hands every time she goes overboard struggles with wait, I’m going to cut myself some slack. And #3? Great goal. In fact I’m borrowing it for myself.
Bring it on, February!

I did okay with my January goals. Because my workload isn’t consistent, my goals can sometimes get put on the back burner. I definitely need to turn social media off and reading all the news stories because I feel like I spend way too much time consumed with all the craziness going on in this country.
Amanda Love says
This is awesome, that quote had me laughing because it’s so true that January is just a warm up. Don’t be too hard on yourself about the goals, although it’s nice that you got to read a book and a half!

These are great goals to have. I don’t always meet mine on time either, but that’s ok. Keep on working towards it.

I should also sign up for a blogging course because I’m really a newbie but I don’t want to pay lots and then never use it, and I’m also a bit scared that the level of teaching will be too high for me. You should be able to take one lesson for free and see if it’s something for you…
Rachel @ The Everyday Mom Life says
I gained this month too. 🙁 Maybe next month. I also did not read as much as I wanted to either. I only squeezed in half a book.

I love this post as I can totally relate to it. I am lagging behind my blogging goals. It is to publish one article per week.
