Confessions of a BloggerHolic #40
Happy KarwaChauth to those who are participating!
We woke up long before sunrise to get some food in our bellies before the day of fasting begins. In true Wednesday fashion, I wanted to pop in and share some confessions before I start my day!
1) Typically, women observing the holiday will have a feast before the day begins in order to keep them full for as long as possible.

I’ll be sticking with my PB&J.
2) Women are also expected to “put the housework aside” for the day.

Not a problem. I’m pretty sure once breakfast is done, I’m hopping back into bed to go back to sleep.
3) As the moon rises in the sky, you’re supposed to look through a sieve to see the moon and your husband’s face.

I’m going to be that girl that uses a pasta strainer instead. Winning.
4) Once the moon is out, we’re expected to break our fast with traditional Indian foods (that I probably should have prepped the day before).

Instead, I think I want to break this fast with pizza.

Wish me luck!
Happy Karwa Chauth!
Questions of the Day:
- What are you eating for breakfast?
- What’s for dinner?
- ‘Fess UP! Tell me a secret!

I have absolutely no clue about number three. Fascinating and now I want to know more….
Very interesting. I had no idea. Thanks for sharing.
Good luck with the fasting. I don’t think I could do it. I need to eat, otherwise I get moody.
I’d want to break the fast with pizza too 😉
This is so true and hilarious! LOVE number 1!!
Great post!
I love this! You’ll have to tell us tomorrow about how it went.
Good luck on your day of fasting! Even though I’m not fasting I’m trying to be healthy today with a strawberry smoothie for breakfast.
I had grits for breakfast. Also 2 cups of coffee. I believe I am making chicken for dinner tonight, unless I change my mind.
A secret? Heh. Well, I’m a blogoholic too, of a sort. Isn’t it fun, even when you’re not getting too many comments, to watch those pageview numbers rise?
Good luck on your fasting. I can’t fast due to health reasons, but breaking a fast with pizza is always good. Oh, and lol on #3
How cool! I would be breaking my fast with pizza too. 😂
Divya, I don’t think I’d have the least bit of trouble putting aside housework for the day! 😀 But the fasting could be a problem!
Today had overly exciting Cheerios for breaky, but I did enjoy coconut flavoured coffee 🙂 The pizza look delightful!
You should have shared a pic of you in the Karwachauth attire. Glad that, you broke the fast with pizza. 🙂
I hardly ever eat breakfast. And for dinner I’m making chicken parm per my kids request. And a secret… I haven’t showered in 2 days because I haven’t had time… eww! lol
I’m not really familiar with the traditions of this holiday. It’s great to see you’re putting your own spin on it!
I can definitely get on board with number 2. I love a day off from doing housework.
I am not familiar with this holiday but I’m excited to learn more about it. I love hearing about people’s culture and traditions.
Rice cakes with peanut butter make such a great snack!
First of all, wish you a very Happy Karva Chauth!
I am fasting without water today and your pizza picture is tempting and I feel like having it right now! Now, have to divert my mind with something else! 🙂
I thought about you when I was out at dinner last night after yesterday’s post. I appreciate how strong in your traditions and you bond with your husband. I’m sure it makes for a more focused time for you and him.
This was super interesting to learn about! WE fast for Yom Kippour but I couldnt this year.
Good choice on going with pizza! I couldn’t pick a better meal to enjoy after a day-long fast.
So what happens with the moon in the face thing? I would be with you on pizza well because i love pizza. Indian food is amazing too, I love Red Curry
I don’t know much about this holiday but I think breaking a fast with pizza is totally acceptable!!
This was so interesting to read! Fasting is difficult.
xoxo, Jenny
Nothing like simplifying life to fit your needs and beliefs. For me is all about being happy and we can manage the choices and decisions we make to make that happen.
This is really interesting! I love number 3. I’ve learned that after you look at the reflection of the moon and your hubby, he will offer you the water for a sip and gives you food to break the fast. How did it go for you with your pasta strainer, Divya?
Every festivals have a romantic story which makes it so interesting, and fun to celebrate. PS. super yummy your foods!
Typically I eat yogurt for breakfast and some type of fruit. I really should get up earlier and make eggs or something but I never feel like it in the morning.
I love learning more about your traditions. It is so interesting.
I had to read the about your first Karwa Chauth to understand what this holiday celebrates (which thanks for the link back. Totally would have Googled it.) and I think this is an interesting holiday.
I like the humour of it – especially the bit about strainer. I enjoy learning about different celebrations and the “behind the scenes” so to speak part of those celebrations.
Happy Karwa Chauth! May it bring you a lifetime of happiness with your husband.
What an interesting tradition. I’m glad to see it has brought you a wonderful husband and you continue to uphold the tradition despite being in America. I love how you’re Americanized it by breaking the fast with pizza! How did it go? Did u survive? lol
Different cultures are so neat! I love all the different traditions and unique experiences that each one has. Thank you for sharing I learned a little bit about your culture today. I love the joke about the pasta strainer!
Quite fascinating
Haha, I love number 2! I could never do fasting – I love my food too much.

Omg good luck with the fasting!!!! Im obsessed with food so I always struggle with not eating every second of the day lol
Lol! of course pizza! after all the false alarms and looking through a strainer who wouldn’t want pizza! Hope you had a good one!
Good luck and Happy Karwa Chauth!
I agree. I had no idea about #3. That pizza looks good.
I love learning more about other cultural celebrations. I have students who are currently fasting for a religious holiday and I always admire their determination.
