Hike and Ice Cream. Times Two.

I didn’t do a weekend recap like I usually do, so let’s do a mini photo dump of the past few days.

Saturday:

Early Saturday morning, we drove up to Berkeley. I had never been up to that part of the bay before, so it was fun to see the campus for the first time and take a tour of the surrounding area.

We walked around the entire campus and I was feeling really nostalgic the whole time. Even though it wasn’t MY college campus, there’s something about being on a campus early Saturday morning that makes me miss being in school so much. (Perhaps the sound of beer bottles clanging or red cups being thrown away into the dumpster?)

It was definitely a lot flatter than UCLA, but there were some hilly parts – like the Big C hike that we went on.

After our hike and trek around the campus, we walked over to Cheeseboard and had some well deserved four-cheese and pesto pizza.

cheeseboard

I love the concept of this place. One type of pizza every day. The line was SO long – wrapped around the corner – but it went fast because they’re just whippin’ up a bunch of the same type of pizzas. And, boy, was it delicious.

I want to go back and spend more time in the actual cheese shop next door. Look at the menu of cheeses they have! I didn’t even KNOW there were so many different types of cheese.

After our bellies were full, we walked back to the car and drove over to Fenton’s for some ice cream goodness.

They take ‘ice cream sundae’ to a whole new level.

I thought I was being very reasonable by ordering a sugar cone with a scoop of ice cream. This was their smallest size.

We took advantage of our active morning and dug right in.

I had every intention to be productive later on in the evening, but ended up spending the rest of the day on the couch – in a hike & food coma.

Sunday:

Spent more time with this little one as she begged to eat breakfast with us.

We drove back to the South Bay after breakfast.

Since it’s been raining off and on here, we’re finally seeing some of that green pop back up – even on the side of the freeway! It’s been a while but it feels like NorCal again!

We decided to do a short hike under the redwoods.

I’ve always been opposed to hiking Villa Montalvo, but this time around it didn’t seem so bad. It’s a quick less-than-2-mile hike, so it’s perfect for days that we don’t have a whole lot of time, but still want to be outside and hiking.

After our hike, we drove straight to Yogurtland.

Yes, “hike and ice cream” was the theme of the weekend. You gotta earn your froyo apparently.

It was a really relaxing weekend overall. I got to spend time with people I love and be outside. What more can I ask for?

Monday:

The perfect way to ease into the week. It was a quieter day at school, followed up by some Body Temple Yoga + Sound Healing.

The class was packed since there was someone there playing his sound healing instruments. There were crystal infused singing bowls, a crystal harp, chimes, a finger piano, and Gemini bells.

It was perfect. Both the sounds and the words that were spoken vibrated within me as I left class last night.

It’s been a pretty fantastic couple of days.

Looking forward to the rest of the week.

Happy Tuesday to all!
