Ishu likes to pretend to be a mama these days.
Well, he likes to pretend to be EVERYTHING these days.
We will have just finished watching 101 Dalmatians and then, the rest of the night, it’s, “Okay I’m Pongo and you’re Perdita and Papa is Jasper!”
But, maybe because he’s watching me nurse Riyaan around the clock, he – most of the time – says, “Okay, I’m the mama.”
So, last night, I was trying to get him to leave the room so Ankur could rock the baby to sleep.
And as I was calling him over, I sang a little tune.
“Ishaan is my MOM. Ishaan is my MOM!”
He walks over to me at the door and says, “No I’m not. I’m his mom,” pointing to Ankur. “And his mom and his mom and his mom.” Pointing to the baby and Cookie Monster and his little rabbit lovey.
“But not my mom?” I asked as I ushered him out of the room.
“No I’m not,” he said, looking me dead in the eye, “Cause you’re the DOG.”
Woof.
I mean, I guess I’m over here eating all the table scraps.
And taking commands.
So, y’know. Maybe he’s not wrong. Ha.
Anyway, hope you all had a fun Halloween. We did NOT go out last night and I feel very pleased with that decision.
We can put the Komodo dragon costume away.
Today, Ishu’s class is celebrating Dia de los Muertos. He keeps telling me he is getting “La Catrina” painted on his face.
Except he’s saying “La Catrina” and rolling his “r” because he thinks all “r” sounds in Spanish are rolled. And anyway, I’m gonna go play dog and lie down some more.
Have a good one! Can’t believe it’s already November!
