Phew, it’s been a minute.
Well, it’s actually been three weeks.
We’ve had our hands (and hearts) full for the past three weeks and, as it typically goes around here, the minute I sit down to write a post, someone needs me. (And now there are TWO ‘someones’ around here, y’know? And they can both sense when I want a few minutes to myself and they’re not having it).
So I’ll keep this short.
RIYAAN KRISH MATHUR IS HERE. He was born on August 17th at 2:36pm.
This experience was entirely different. With Ishu, I was induced and then played the waiting game for 3 days in the hospital before moving forward with a C-section (due to stalled labor). At which point I was too exhausted (and way too shaky from all those meds they pumped into me) to hold him or enjoy him.
But THIS time, with a scheduled C-section, we checked into the hospital at noon, went into the operating room a little past 2pm, and then wham bam, welcome little man.
He latched right away. I was calm and didn’t get flustered when he cried. I was up and moving shortly after the procedure. And I even walked home from the hospital two days later! When I say this was ENTIRELY different than our first go-around, I really mean it. In every way.
For the first two weeks, our little guy slept for every single minute he wasn’t feeding. He even gave us a 5 hour stretch of sleep during his first week home.
And now he’s graduated from that sleepy newborn stage. The past three nights have brought back some of those sleep deprived memories from Ishu’s time.
Crossing my fingers that we move through this faster than the 3 years it took Ishu. Ha.
But we’re doing well. Very much in love with this little human we brought home. And beyond grateful for the support we’ve had over the last month. <3
