Monday is here again and, like always, the weekend snuck by way too quickly! Why does it always seem to do that?!
This morning, I feel a little less scatter-brained than I typically do on Monday mornings. This is probably because I sat down and had a “meeting with myself” on Thursday evening and thought about what I wanted to accomplish this weekend.
I feel like I’m often faced with a dilemma every Saturday morning. Do I want to indulge in the weekend laziness and listen to podcasts all day long? Or do I want to tackle my to-do list and be a productive human? The pull on both ends leaves me hanging in the middle. And then, come Monday morning, my weekend is gone, my to-do list is still to-be-done, and I don’t always feel the most relaxed and ready to return to work!
But, this week, setting a vision for my weekend was really helpful. I was able to find time to complete a few nagging tasks and also get a good amount of reading in! It definitely helped that I put the things that HAD to get done on my calendar. And then all the blank space around the “appointments” were free for other things like reading and Parks & Rec! This “meeting with myself” might become a weekly ritual!
I didn’t get around to taking too many pictures, but here’s a short recap of my weekend!
Friday:
I worked a 12-hour day on Friday because we had WinterFest at our school in the evening. So, by the time I reached home at 8PM, this was all I wanted for dinner.
Saturday:
To sweat off all the wine that was consumed on Friday, I woke up nice and early and went to Step Aerobics before heading out to Knoxville. Kasey, Nicole, and I did a little bit of Christmas shopping in and around Market Square. Our first stop was food. Obviously. We went to Topelo Honey Cafe for some Southern comfort food. We all got our own lunch/brunch items, but ordered a Sweet Potato pancake to share. Everything was delicious. From the (complimentary) biscuit we started out with to the grilled chicken sandwich with pesto and Havarti Cheese, everything had so much flavor. (Or I could just be extremely biased because I don’t get to experience quality restaurants all that often!)
After we ate, we tackled a few shops and I ended up buying a few items for myself. Like a fleece jacket. Because I am still learning how to survive in the cold. Between my new fleece jacket and the coat Sister brought for me last week, I should be good to go for the next few weeks! (Granted I’ll probably be wearing the same outfit day in and day out).
After Market Square, we drove toward the mall to attempt to tackle the crowds of people also trying to get their Christmas shopping done. We got a couple more items but, by 5PM, we all agreed that we’d be better off doing the rest of our shopping online.
From the mall, we stopped at Bob’s Liquor Store and Trader Joe’s before heading back to Harrogate. I felt pretty proud of my efficiency at Trader Joes. I feel like I deserve a medal for quickest, most efficient grocery shopper. Or at least be nominated to be on one of those grocery-shopping TV shows.
Sunday:
The weather was perfect for someone who needed to stay home and be productive. It was raining on and off all day. So I just stayed in my PJs, turned on my Christmas music, and got to work on grading, IEP writing, and blog-related things!
A pretty well-balanced weekend, if you ask me!
How was your weekend?
Questions of the Day:
- Do you map out your weekends or go with the flow?
- Have you finished your Christmas shopping?
- What did you do this weekend?

Sounds like a great weekend. We got a few things this weekend for our boys and then decided against going to the mall at all and just ordering everything else online. They get SO crazy during the holidays. I have zero time for that! LOL Hope you have an amazing week too!
