This past weekend, I went to two weddings (which is why I was asleep for more than half of my birthday on Sunday). Weddings are both incredible and exhausting at the same time. But it was definitely another JOY from this weekend:
2) Val’s Wedding:
On Friday, Val – my friend from UCLA – got married to Jeff, her high school sweetheart. They’ve been together for 10 years and already have two beautiful kids – Braiden and Mia. The wedding was at the Museum of Man in San Diego. The ceremony was small and took place in one of the chapels. It was beautiful. Val looked absolutely gorgeous and Jeff could not take his eyes off her (neither could we!). They had Braiden be a part of the ceremony and walk down with the flower girls, but he wouldn’t walk. The cute little girls behind him kept encouraging him to continue, but he wasn’t moving too quickly until he saw his daddy at the altar. Then he ran up to Jeff and held on to his leg tightly, unaware of what was happening. Probably the cutest thing ever.
After the ceremony, there was a short cocktail hour outside of the reception ballroom. It was really nice to be able to reunite with all of the Spring Sing ’07ers. Even though everyone lives in LA, I rarely see them because we’re all so busy. So being able to spend the entire night with them was loads of fun and reminded us why we love drinking with each other so much. I’m going to spare everyone from the embarrassing pictures, but let’s just say when you tip the bartender $10 after your first drink, she’s going to love you the rest of the night.
Fun memories from the night:
Dancing to “Call Me Maybe” * father/daughter dance where Val and her dad broke out into some super cool routine (including the dougie) * watching Liang hug a pole to make the room stop spinning * Priyah catching the bouquet * Andrew “dipping the tip” in whiskey * Andrew refusing to pay $10 to go to a club in our hotel * changing our mind 8 seconds later and nearly begging the guy to let us in * Jen and her attachment to the UCLA hat * Photobooth pictures * Andrew getting kicked out of the club for being wobbly * watching Liang trample over a 2 year old * watching Liang poke everyone with an American flag * dancing til our feet were black *
And most importantly, watching Val marry her best friend. Their vows to each other were so loving and supportive (we even stole some lines to use for our own weddings.) How they push each other to be better people. How they support one another and work together for their wonderful kids. And my all time favorite: “You saved me from a life of limits and ceilings.” It was honestly a beautiful moment – so glad we got to celebrate this special day with them. 🙂
