I’ve been spending the last few days exploring this area that will soon be my new home. So far, so good. 🙂
Jen recommended that I do a run/walk on the Los Gatos Creek Trail.
It’s a biking and pedestrian trail that goes through Campbell starting from Los Gatos to Meridian Avenue. I LOVED it. It was a little bit over 8 miles from Campbell Park to Vasona Park and back. But it doesn’t seem as long just because of how gorgeous it is. I ended at Vasona where there was a beautiful lake. And throughout the trail, they have little “fitness stops” on the side. For example, they have different sized stumps so people can do sit-ups. Or an overhead bar for pull-ups. Get in a full-body workout without setting foot into the gym.
And remember my run at Mason Park in Irvine where I had to dodge the duck sh*t?! On this trail, there’s a portion where I had to dodge the actual ducks. I was afraid one of them was going to try chasing after me.
But it was absolutely gorgeous. With a perfect ending. I will definitely be going back here soon.
Great Bear Coffee (Los Gatos, CA)
I needed somewhere to hang out while I waited for my Apple appointment. <—-Side note: My $300 external hard drive is dead. I used it once. This is why I never buy expensive things. But before I got the terrible news and I was still on a runners high, I hung out at Great Bear Coffee and ordered myself a soy latte (obvi) and spent the hour catching up on blogs and chatting with Sissy. I know that I’m a Starbucks girl, but it’s because I forget how DELICIOUS soy lattes are from other places. While I was in New York, I raved about the soy latte I got from Birch Coffee. This latte was pretty similar. Yum, yum. And it was pretty packed with people eating lunch too so I’m sure it’s got more than just lattes! Will also be going back to this place for sure!
Mr. Pickles Sandwich Shop (Los Gatos, CA)
I was craving a sandwich but wanted to try something other than Subway. Pulled out the phone and looked on Yelp for some suggestions. This place had **** (<—-no, that’s not an expletive. It’s 4 stars) so I was all about it. I ordered a simple turkey sandwich with “everything.” Everything means: tomatoes, onions, mayo, mustard, their g-sauce (Garlic Sauce), pesto, lettuce, pickles, peppers. Sounds like it’d be delicious, right?
It wasn’t bad. But I think I’m the kinda gal that likes TONS of veggies shoved in my sammy. Lots of them, where it’s dripping out both ends. So I wasn’t too impressed. But it still satisfied the sandwich craving. I ate half while I was there but took the other half home to heat up in the microwave. I also like my sammys hot (another + point for Subway).
Met up with an old friend from UCLA who happens to be here interning for the summer. He’s going to Yale for his MBA so there was an informal MBA event that I decided to crash. Partially to see my friend but partially because this place is also rated an expletive of **** and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Just like many bars in SF, it was long and narrow and packed. It took me an entire 10 minutes to get from the front entrance to the back end of the bar (probably a total of 10 steps). Luckily, there was an upstairs that was sectioned off for the MBAs. But the spacious wiggle room lasted about 5 minutes before everyone showed up and it was packed upstairs too. The drinks weren’t expensive – I think during happy hour it was $4 for my well drink (<—-good darn thing because parking in the city was a whopping $23). Not bad, but I probably wouldn’t choose to go back here.
Now I am off for some more adventures! I’ll probably check out the Campbell Farmers Market. And today is National Walking Day! So I will try to find another fun trail to explore. Have a wonderful weekend!! =)
