Wandering Weekends: Emotional Recharge

Another weekend has come and gone! I know I say this over and over, but I just live for my weekends and am so grateful for the two days off each week. I get to recharge my emotional battery and gear up for another week ahead. I’m so perplexed by how people can go to work on the weekends. I don’t know if I’d be able to do my work each week if I didn’t get the time off in between.

Anyway, let’s do a little recap and picture walk.

Friday:

Friday was a day of meltdowns. Students. Teachers. All the people. So a happy hour after work was mandatory.

I call it the Detox Detour. It was needed. For my mental sanity. And it worked.

Saturday:

On Saturday afternoon, we decided to drive up to Marin County for a hike. A long drive [nearly 2 hours!] up a windy road, but it was definitely worth it to hike somewhere new.

We did the Cataract Falls Trail in Mount Tamalpais State Park.

It was about 6 miles round trip and there was a small little lake and waterfall where we decided to turn around. Just beautiful.

Later that evening, we went over to Kent’s for some BBQ-ing and Mexican Train Dominoes.

I didn’t think I would ever love another game as much as I love Bananagrams. But I’m borderline obsessed. I ordered it on Amazon right then and there [That one-click feature on the Amazon app is WAY too dangerous!!!] and it should be coming in the mail today!

Sunday:

It rained through the night so when I woke up, it was BEAUTIFUL outside. I love the way all the colors shine so bright after it rains. We took advantage of the beautiful morning and went for a walk to the park.

Post-walk, we parked it at Starbucks to get some work done. I’m really taking advantage of the Order feature on the Starbucks app. I didn’t feel like waiting in the 3-person line so I ordered coffee from my phone as I set up my laptop and work things. That takes laziness to a whole new level. Or maybe it’s just efficient. Let’s go with that.

I have a lot of internal angst when I’m cooped up inside and it’s GORGEOUS outside. So, every half hour or so, I got up from my work and walked up and down this trail next to Starbucks. Man, I love this time of year.

After working for a bit, I braved the crowds of people at Trader Joes and did some light shopping for the week. “Light shopping” because I started feeling claustrophobic and overwhelmed with so many people pushing their carts around me.

The rest of Sunday was spent working a bit. And curled up in bed with my Kindle. I just finished reading The Nightingale.

So good. So many tears. So worth the read. Do it.
