Ankur and I don’t exchange gifts.
In fact, if Ankur handed me a wrapped present, I’d probably look around the room for my husband and wonder what Muggle drank some Polyjuice Potion to try to pass off as him.
We don’t do gifts.
Never have, never will.
Not tangible things anyway.
But, like I said in yesterday’s post, I walked out to a completely clean and put-together living room and kitchen and that was the best gift he could have given me.
It was messed up oh, y’know, within 5 minutes of Ishu being out there. But I got to start my day with some semblance of order and it felt SO AMAZING.
We made egg + chicken sausage sandwiches for our Valentines Day breakfast. Ishu ate almost an entire sammy so I had was pretty darn happy about it.
And, after breakfast, Jessie and Henry popped over to give Ishu the very first Valentine he’s ever gotten. The gummies are in his belly and the painted heart is hanging on our fridge. And every time Ishu sees it, he says “Henny heart.” I love them together so much. I wish I got a picture of them being SO CUTE running back and forth in the hallway.
The rest of the day went by in a blur. Ankur went off to work, I sat at my desk to do some testing with kids, and Ishu napped for most of the time Bella was here.
When Bella left, Ishu and I went out for a bit. We went to Water Tower Place and visited the Legos store. We wanted to go to the park over there, but it was pretty icy. So, instead, we ended up at Stan’s Donuts where Ishu ate an entire flippin’ donut to himself.
Then we came home.
Listened to the Encanto soundtrack.
Played with some dinosaurs.
And then got into bed around 7pm. I, of course, ended up falling asleep with him. And then woke up at 8pm right when Ankur got home. So we finished up the rest of the Jungle Cruise movie, payed off some bills, and he finally got around to opening the card I gave him in the morning.
Ha.
This is Valentines Day. You’d think it’s uneventful because we’re parents now. But the fact of the matter is it’s always been this way. And I wouldn’t change it for anything.
