It’s been a few days since we’ve taken Ishu to the park after school.
And it was very clear – in the way his body was all bouncy and jumpy and all over the place after dinner last night – that he needed to get some energy out.
Not simply to run around in circles.
But some of that ‘heavy work,’ that deep muscle work like climbing and lifting and pushing.
So, while we were still sitting at the dining table, we had him start pushing the wall, pushing the floor, pushing the couches. Ha.
And when that wasn’t enough, Ishu and I took off on a trip up the stairwell.
He was so excited to be climbing the stairs. “We have to go all the way up to THIRTY,” he said.
And then when we reached 30 and he realized we could go higher, he made us keep going.
Every once in a while, he’d turn around and say, “MAMA, COME ON! COME UP!”
At one point, I had to take a breather. I paused to look up at him and said, “You’re not tired yet?”
Without realizing he was sounding like a snark, he said, “NO. But I’m also BREATHING.”
Ha.
Anyway, Mama got a real nice workout last night after dinner. My personal trainer was my 3-year old and we went all the way to the top of our high-rise building.
I think this might be a nice bonding activity we do post-baby. He really is an excellent trainer. Won’t leave me behind because he wants to stay close. And also keeps yelling, “MAMA, KEEP GOING.”
Phew. I am gonna be SORE today.
