This year of residency has already proved to be a zillion times better than last year. Ha. Ankur got home at 3:45 yesterday (!!!) and I ducked out around 5:15ish to meet up with some other moms for dinner and a movie.
It’s the mom book club that I have been wanting to join. But, of course, even though I have been reading all the books they choose each month, Ankur’s schedule was a little unpredictable last year so I never knew if I’d actually be able to attend an evening meet-up.
Well, LOOK AT ME NOW.
It felt so fun last night to be around other moms, all of us so eager to escape our little ones for a little bit.
I read something the other day that hit HOME for me. My two favorite things in life are: spending time with my kid and not spending time with my kid.
Yes, exactly.
And then when I got home, Ishu was already asleep. So it was almost like I got two gifts last night: a night out with other moms AND a night where I didn’t have to think about feeding him, bathing him, and putting him to sleep.
I can get used to this.
In fact, Ankur’s cohort has planned a happy hour this evening (at 4:30…WHAT?! Look at all these PGY-3’s planning something for so early). And Auntie Bella will be with Ishu. So TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW being a social bird.
I don’t even know who I am anymore.
And I love it.
