Tuesday morning in Tulum. We woke up and went to Le Bistro for breakfast instead of the usual burrito place because they’re closed on Tuesdays.
Coffee was fab. Company was great.
And the baguettes were warm and toasty.
We mostly just needed some quick fuel to power us up for our swim with the tortugas. Yes, we swam with sea turtles! So many of them. We named them. Jorge (grandpa turtle) and Sammy (baby turtle) were our favs.
I obviously didn’t get to take pictures while we’re there. My Otterbox Defender Series case is protective – not that protective!
But it was just magical. Every time the turtles popped their heads out of the water to breathe, Jen and I giggled like crazy. And, every time I giggled, I needed to rip my mask off because I inhaled water through the snorkel. Winning.
After coming back from Akumal, we went to Mezzanine for lunch.
We ordered margaritas and picked goddess cards while we waited for our food.
Everything was so flavorful. The sweet potato red curry was my favorite.
We stayed there until Andrea joined us and then made our way back to Kin Ha. When we first got to Mexico, I wasn’t sure why Becky and Jen insisted on spending every day at the same bar/beach area. But, after trying out a few other places, I recognized why Kin Ha was better than the rest.
When you order coconut water, they walk over to the tree just a few feet away to yank a coconut down from the top. When you order a drink, it comes with a side of their home-made-with-love hummus. And, as we were all able to agree on, the variety of beach furniture is crucial to the experience.
Not to mention, the people there are the best.
The view isn’t bad either! 😉
It was a pretty emotional day – having to say goodbye to everyone at Kin Ha – since it was our last day there.
We played a round of King’s Cup – but the rules were slightly different than the typical game. The Tulum version is centered around gratefulness. Tears were shed. Hugs were shared. Joy was experienced.
As the sun went down and the mosquitoes came out, we all ran to the water and jumped in. Best sunset of the trip. 🙂
After our sunset experience, we went back to the hotel, quickly showered and changed for dinner. Oh boy, the dinner.
Every little detail was perfect. We were sitting in the entrance of a home that was converted into a restaurant. Candles were lit. More tears were shed. And just an overall feeling of absolute appreciation for this experience and these past couple of days.
Every meal we’ve had on this trip has been so much more than the food. Sure, the food has been so flavorful and DELICIOUS, but the best thing about our dining experience is the ambience and conversation.
And the love.
So much love.
