Good morning! This week has been much better than last week. Thank goodness. I’m still facing plenty of challenges at work, but I am focusing on what I can control and that’s made a huge difference. We’re also one day closer to Friday so I’m a pretty happy camper this morning.
Here are a few other things making me happy this week. As always, play along in the comments and tell me one thing you’re loving lately!

Building Investment Through Data
Even though it’s already October, we still don’t have a progress monitoring tool to measure our student’s growth from reading interventions. To be completely honest, it’s hard for ME to be invested in using a curriculum with my students if I’m not able to see some hard numbers that indicate that something’s working. Just a few weeks ago, I started implementing daily fluency routines with my kids. They absolutely LOVE them because 1) they are at their level and 2) they get to graph their growth after practicing the same passage all week long. Though this isn’t a formal assessment tool, my kids are encouraged to practice reading at home and at school to “beat their score” from last time. And I am getting a glimpse of some growth in both their reading and their confidence.

Keeping Up With My Old Kiddos
One of the things that was most difficult about leaving California is that I had to say goodbye to my students and their families – many of whom I had worked with for three years. But, fortunately, I have a few parents that keep in touch through phone/text/social media. It always warms my heart when I hear about one of my old babies. Especially when I hear that they’re kicking butt at life and developing into such loving, caring human beings.

Experiencing a REAL Fall
Though it still feels like summer here most days, the mornings and evenings feel a little crisper and cooler. A few trees have started to change colors and I can feel the fall creeping in! Having lived in California my whole life, I am eager to experience what it’s like to have the seasons change – for REAL.
Questions of the Day:
- What’s the weather like where you live?
- What’s one thing you’re loving lately?

Fall is in full swing here in Newfoundland. We are actually haveing oddly mild weather, but I am not complaining, it is such a nice time of year with all the colors and the crisp air.
One thing I have been loving lately is a new candle I bought this weekend, I went on a little bit of a shopping spree but the candle ocean breeze I think it is is amazing. I light it and just feel so zen.
Happy Fall to you!

It’s finally cooling down here and feeling more like fall! My favorite season 🙂 So naturally I’ve been bringing back all the fall things. Butternut squash, stew, crockpot meals, and a little pumpkin thrown in the mix 🙂

It is so cold here in Vienna. Fall came and so did the cold and the wind. I love fall but these past few days have been rainy and quite depressing. Hoping for a little sunshine this weekend.

It’s rainy but decent where I am. The temp changes rapidly though around this town of year. Right now I’m loving my Thursday afternoon quiet time. JadoreLeDecor.com

My husband is from Sacramento he moved to the MidWest when he was in his 20’s. I grew up in Wisconsin and that is where we met. I love the change in the seasons and I think my husband appreciates it now too. Currently we live in the Chicago area. The trees are not changing color yet and we have had warm weather, until today, it rained all day. But the cooler temperatures should be here soon. Have a terrific day!
