Good morning!
It’s another early morning in this household. After I hit “Publish” on this blog post, I’m going to lace up and head to the gym. I’ve been so regimented about getting a workout in before work. It’s become a non-negotiable and I absolutely LOVE it.
I think this morning routine (and the fact that I’m being so consistent with it!) has been the thing I’m loving the most this week. But, in true Thursday fashion, I’ve included a few other things that have brought me joy. Play along in the comments or if you’ve got your own “Thankful” post, link it up below! Happy Friday eve! <3
This Reminder
After my last 21-day challenge, I was feeling really good about myself. I felt stronger, leaner, and more in control of my actions. So, on the very last day, I jumped on the scale – eager to see the number drop a couple pounds to validate that all my hard work paid off. Well, it didn’t drop. It actually went up a few pounds. I melted into the ground (quite literally) and cried my eyeballs out as my patient husband explained to me that when you first introduce intense weight training into your lifestyle, seeing an increase in weight is normal.
He said a bunch of other science-y things that I tried to process. But I was just overly emotional that the number didn’t match up with all my hard work. Eventually, I got back up and dried my eyes and calmly listened to him as he explained that I just needed to keep going. That, over time, the muscle would beat out the fat and eventually the scale would catch up with it all. But the bottom line is that I should keep going. I should hide the scale and keep going. If I’m happy and if I’m healthy and if I’m feeling good about myself, everything else will fall into place.
A New 21-Day Challenge Group
Besides gaining a few pounds (which was not my intention. But, um, see above), I also gained a lot of perspective and mental strength (minus my one mini meltdown) through the last 21-Day Challenge I was a part of. The new Facebook group starts today and I’m excited to keep the momentum going. If you’re interested in joining the fun, let me know in the comments or shoot me a private message.
The Allergy Blend
Last Friday, all of the veterinary staff members went out to the farm to support with the 3rd year practical exams. Around 2PM, the wind started blowing and my allergies got a little out of control. I could barely keep my itchy, bloodshot eyes open to do my job. Fortunately, I carry my oils with me wherever I go. And, within a few minutes of putting these three oils on my neck, I was as good as new. I swear – this blend works like magic. I feel like I’m performing some sort of witchcraft every time I use them.
Subway Dates with My Favorite Human
Even though I’ve been at this new job for over a month now, I still find it so exciting to get to work in the same building that Ankur’s classes are in. I’m not crazy-stalker-wife status by any means. But it’s pretty darn fun to get to carpool on some days and go to Subway for lunch every Tuesday. (Sub of the Day on Tuesday = Oven Roasted Chicken Breast. So, obviously, where else would I be?)

I love my oils too! The allergy blend is seriously a life saver. I woke up this morning thinking I needed those three oils in my life today. My allergies have been kicking my butt this whole week.

The one thing that I am loving this week is meeting and networking with other bloggers. Regardless of how long they have been blogging, all have been so supportive and helpful. This is really making my transition from a 9-5 working mom to work at home mom… so that’s what I’m loving about this week… can’t wait to see what next week brings! Thanks for asking…

This allergy blend looks interesting, my son also suffers and might be worth a try. Thanks for sharing. I love the reminder 🙂 P.S. Subway is delicious x

Andrew and I used to have chick fila dates like that. So fun!

Hahah Oils always make me feel a little witchcraft-y. I’ve been following the new Tone It Up Bikini Series and I’ve been loving it! I’ve also been reverting back to prior ways of eating because I just wasn’t feeling good in my skin after trying something new. Gotta listen to our bodies!

That allergy blend sounds awesome! I get bad allergies, so I’ll have to try that out.
And congrats on having a workout routine! I always love when I have such a routine down that I find myself working out on days I didn’t plan to, just because that’s what I do. March and April were super busy and crazy, so I’ve fallen out of that kind of regular workout routine, but I’m working on getting back into it.

It’s okay to stalk your husband if you want to, especially if he is your favorite human on earth.
I have renewed my commitment to the gym and worked out a minimum of 4 days a week in the last 21 days. I also take walks when the weather allows. I have to say that I feel a lot more confident and energized with the commitment to exercise my body.

I got a chuckle out of the essential oils comment! The fat/muscle thing is true – I had the same thing happen to me, so no worries. There was a gym challenge I did a few years back called The Biggest Winner – whoever gained the most muscle while losing fat won. I didn’t win, but I last a few pounds of fat – and gained weight!

Oh wow, that’s awesome the oil blend works so well with your allergies. I really want to try some out and see if they help, especially with sleeping!
I didn’t know you worked in the same building that your husband has classes. That’s so awesome.

That is awesome that you make your workout non-negotiable every day. I workout 4 days a week, but I’d like to get up to 5 days soon. I’m sure it’s frustrating about your weight, but it sounds like you’re doing everything right, and it will all work itself out. Muscle does weigh more than fat! 🙂 I love essential oils too!

Aw you poor thing! There’s nothing worse than putting so much work in and then not seeing the results you were after. I hope you can take some comfort in the knowledge that weight gain at the start is normal.

I love essential oils they help a lot in so many ways. And yes don’t give up weight loss is a lifestyle change it takes time. Better lose less than lose all those pounds in a weeks and then recover them in one night. Keep up amiga you can do it!
Lisa says
I’ve never tried essential oils, but wow! If they work as well on allergies as you say, I need to check them out!

What a great idea having a weight loss support group. Don’t get down on yourself, your husband is right. If you weigh yourself often, try limiting yourself to doing it less. Go by more on how your body feels and looks in clothing. I weigh myself once a week just to keep in check, but I lost 6 lbs last week being sick and my pants are falling off me this week. It’s not good. I know most people would applaud any weight loss but I feel weaker at the gym now. It’ll come back.
Happy Friday sista! Xo

The things I loved this past week were, (1) I had eggplant tempura! (my favorite!) That gave me a happy tummy. (2) Free rabies vaccine for neighborhood dogs – a community outreach project by non-profit organization, (3) watching old tear-jerker movies (circa 1990s). I cried buckets (again) after watching Dying Young and Nights in Rodanthe. (4) Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. 🙂 Have a great rest of the week, Divya!

It’s great that you’ve been able to be so close with Ankur between work hours – I don’t think it makes you stalker-y at all to be able to enjoy that time and closeness with him. In the meantime, remember that he’s right about the muscle mass making you weigh more; keep an eye on how well your clothes fit instead. This is a much better way of checking out your body mass and composition.
