Happy Friday Eve! I’m a little sluggish this morning. Thank goodness for coffee. Coffee will always be the #1 thing I’m loving at 5AM. But, in keeping with our Thursday schedule, here are a few other things that have made me smile this week.
As always, feel free to share one thing that you’re loving this week in the comments section of this post! I love reading them!

Dutch Treat
Last week, I ventured out to Rose Hill, Virginia to pick up sandwiches for lunch. Katy had recommended this place to us a while ago, but it’s about a 35 minute drive – not in the direction of any major city – so we weren’t really sure if it was worth the drive. (Also, Subway is a 2-minute drive from the house and I could eat Subway all day, every day). Well, turns out that Subway has a little competition. These deli sandwiches are HUGE and cheap and incredibly delicious because they bake their own bread. They also sell a wide variety of baked goods, spices, and other grains. I will absolutely be back!

Teacher Moments
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been trying to practice and reinforce reading strategies during our intervention groups. Currently, we’re working on “covering up” each syllable as we sound out the word. A lot of the kiddos get intimidated by longer words and don’t even attempt to read passages that seem daunting. But, lately, I’ve been watching a few of them use their fingers to cover up parts of the word to sound out each syllable. It makes my heart explode when I see them doing this independently and I can’t help but interrupt and hug the crap out of them.

Facetimes with my RBM Family
Yesterday evening, Bruni Facetimed me and I got to chat with some of the staff and students I worked with last year. I miss them so unbelievably much, but getting to see them – even if only for a few minutes – was the absolute highlight of my week.

Dinner Dates
Dinner has become a sacred time for us because, no matter what’s going on, we set it aside – even if only for 20 minutes. Last week, Ankur and I decided to head to Morristown for dinner after he finished his exam earlier than expected. Every night is special, but it’s always a treat to go out to eat. Especially when it’s sushi and Ankur’s reaction to every bite is priceless. He’s a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things. I’m so lucky to share all my dinners with him.
Questions of the Day:
- What’s your favorite sandwich shop?
- When’s the last time you went out to dinner?
- What’s one thing you’re loving this week?

I lived in the Netherlands for a while and the Dutch do bread and cheese like everyone else does water and air – it’s a way of life! I love going out to dinner but picking a fave type of food is too hard. I’m basically really greedy and love everything lol!

FRIDAY EVE- I can not wait until the weekend and then Thanksgiving. A much needed ‘break’ to get some things done around the house. This week- I’m also loving coffee. A sick baby and 3am wake ups means Mama-Needs-Coffee.

Agreed – coffee is always #1 and always will be. 🙂
That’s awesome you guys take the time every evening to intentionally sit down and enjoy your meals together. We should all do that and learn to enjoy all of the little moments.
I hope you have a great day, Divya! 🙂

I teach my kids the same strategy of covering up part of the word to help them sound it out better and hopefully get the word on the first attempt. Its a good strategy!

Dinner out is always so fun! My parents were in town helping me move and we went out to eat a couple times, including Bonefish Grill which is one of my favorites! 🙂

I wish we had a Dutch Treat country store here. I would be there every single day of my existence. I can only imagine the wonderful bread and cheese! OMG. I don’t really have a favorite sandwich shop, and the last time me and my husband went out for dinner was on my birthday.
Rose says
I don’t have a favorite sandwich shop but I did Google Rose Hill as I live in VA and it is a 7 house drive so I’m pretty sure I won’t make it there anytime soon. The last time I went out to eat was Tyes day and it was to Olive Garden.

I go out for dinner too much as I can cook and love it. Blogging has got me rushing my meals to save time which kinda sucks. I don’t really have a favourite sandwich shop? Panera does some good ones.

It has been ions since we went out to dinner. I mean at least 6 months maybe longer. Eating out here in Norway is so very very expensive so we don’t do it very often.
