Ishu was on the morning news!
If you’re not interested in clicking the link to watch the videos, lemme go ahead and summarize the experience for you.
All the children are dancing and following teacher instructions at the carpet.
And my child is boppin’ around right in front of the teacher. At one point, he even attempts to strum her guitar for her.
Later, all the children are sitting on their respective carpet circles.
And my child walks behind the teacher – where she keeps all her supplies – and attempts to pull out the maracas from a closed box.
Even later, everyone sits down to do some art project.
My child’s butt touches down in the chair for about a second and then he pops back up and decides to wander the room a bit.
I know this is his first experience being in something so structured and he’s not used to following instructions. He’s used to leading the way, exploring whatever he wants to explore.
At the same time, I feel like I’m getting firsthand experience on what it’s like to be a parent where a kid needs a little something extra. Flexible seating, anyone? Gentle nudges to look around the room and see what everyone else is doing? Repetition to put materials back so we can transition to the next activity?
Ha.
Again, he’s a 2-year old. With a lot of time to figure out the whole “school” thing.
So I’m not worried about it. If anything, it’s pretty fun to watch this little guy do his own thing. Even when the camera is running. That freedom to be completely who he is and not having that uncomfortable feeling of having to put on a show for anyone or anything.
I hope he keeps a little bit of that forever.
Anyway, if you want this celebrity’s autograph, he’s been practicing it for a while now on his LCD tablet. He scribbles and points to it and says, “Ee-nan Ma-ter.”
He’d be happy to sign something for you. Perhaps even your walls? Your floors? He’s good at that too.
(Not gonna lie – would be pumped if he grew outta THAT behavior real soon).
Okay, now we’re going back to “school” today for an hour this morning! (And stopping along the way to get mama some coffee). Have a happy day!
