Well, I was supposed to come on here this morning to report on how happy hour went with Ankur’s friends.
But we didn’t go.
Ha.
Ankur got done with work early and we decided to head to lunch since Bella was with Ishu. And, after lunch, we were like, “Eh. We got some quality time together. Now we miss our baby.” So, we stayed home.
We went to Ed Debevic’s for lunch. It’s one of those diners where the servers are intentionally assholes to you.
It’s a couple blocks from our house and I always pass it and have been wanting to try it out.
They make it very clear that they’re one of those “snarky diners” and to be prepared for some attitude if you want to eat there.
They’ve got a little walkway through their booths in the center of their main floor. And you get a nice little show of all the servers doing a dance at least once during your meal. We got the YMCA yesterday. It was fun to watch everyone at their tables participating and loving it.
Several of the diners were big families with kids and the kids freakin’ loved the sass.
The food is kind of expensive for what it is. Which is basically regular ol’ diner food.
BUT, we read somewhere that all employees get a livable wage. So, it feels pretty worth it to pay a little extra at a business that cares about their people.
(Also, another reason we were on the fence about happy hour. It’s pretty impossible to leave your house in the summer and not spend all the money. If anyone has any tips on NOT doing that, that’d be fab).
Now, we’re gonna get ready and head to the Navy Pier for the morning. Wiggleworms in the AM and then the museum afterward.
Hope you all have a great weekend! HAPPY FRIDAY!
Question of the Day:
Have you been to one of these restaurants that are intentionally rude to you?!
