This has been a long, LONG month for Ankur. He’s been on the pulmonary/critical care unit this month and it feels like he’s been working non-stop. His days are super long and he hasn’t had a day off since the beginning of January.
Apparently, doctors/residents call a regular weekend “a golden weekend” because it’s not very often that they get both Saturday and Sunday off.
Ankur says “a weekend” to residents is getting one day off. I’m gonna go ahead and call it a silver weekend because I think I’m funny.
Anyway, yes, he had Saturday off. To say I was THRILLED that he got the full day off is an absolute understatement. (Last weekend he had to work half of Saturday, which ended up being 3/4 of the day).
We celebrated on Friday night with HAPPY HOUR.
He got home late so I went ahead and started without him. Obviously.
When he got home, we ate some leftover pizza, watched some TV, and then I ended up falling asleep early with the baby.
But I didn’t feel too bad about it because we had THE WHOLE DAY on Saturday to be together.
I wanted him to sleep in a little bit so the baby and I snuck out early Saturday morning to get some coffee and stuff for breakfast.
He woke up right as we pulled in to the apartment complex.
It ended up raining the rest of the day so we stayed indoors. I think Ishaan was a little confused (but also oh-so excited) that his papa was home with him all day.
For lunch, we made sandwiches at home. (I know. I’m just as surprised as you are that we didn’t have Jersey Mike’s). Ankur made a tuna salad sammie. And I made a chicken salad sammie on these cauliflower sandwich thins. They were more like tacos. But they were DELICIOUS. So much so that I didn’t get a picture beforehand. How unlike me.
We also got the baby to nap in his crib. (After I finally emptied out all the stuff we were storing in there and changed sheets).
But, don’t let that fool you. He is very much not napping in his crib right now. It was a fluke. Mostly because Ankur was home. I don’t think I have long enough arms to gently put him in there without waking him up. He just rolls over and looks up at me as if to say, “Oh. I guess it’s not sleep time. Okay, let’s play.”
Whatever.
I’m going to soak up the cozy cuddles.
While he slept, we watched the newest episode of WandaVision on Disney Plus. It’s good. A little weird and confusing, but I think it’s supposed to be that way. Ankur has theories about it being trauma related. I’m just enjoying the fact that each episode is similar to an old TV show (e.g. Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, etc.). And also wondering how-the-heck Wanda lost her accent. My theory on THAT is that she did a terrible job with the accent so they tried to fade it back with each movie she was in. And now it’s completely eliminated.
Anyway, remember those days when I wasn’t a Marvel fan? And my favorite movie was The Notebook?
Weird.
After the baby woke up, we gave him some food and then also attempted to give him some peanut butter for the first time. We gave him 1/4 of a spoonful. And he seemed to enjoy it. But he started getting little pink spots around his mouth. Nothing too severe and, fortunately, we had Benadryl on hand. He was still his happy lil self.
So peanut butter is a no-go. For now. Apparently we can try again in a few weeks and things may be different.
Since Ankur was home, I actually had time to make a decent dinner. I made some Thai red curry with ground chicken and veggies.
Lots of leftovers so we will probably be eating that for dinner tonight too!
Hope you’re all enjoying your golden weekends! And, if you’re a resident like Ankur, hope you enjoyed your silver weekend (if you had one). I’m making it a thing. OKAY?
