A few days ago, Ishu was resisting the bath. So I tried to pull out all the bells and whistles. And the thing that finally sold him was making a color bath. I got the yellow food dye and the green food dye from the kitchen and handed him each of them saying, “3 drops of green! 3 drops of yellow!”
He squeezed the green out and said, “BABAJI’S FAVORITE COLOR!”
Then he swapped me for the yellow.
He shook the bottle three times and said, “The MAN’S FAVORITE COLOR!”
Thinking I heard him incorrectly, I asked him, “Whose favorite color?”
“The man,” he said confidently.
It took me a few seconds to realize he was talking about THE MAN IN THE YELLOW HAT. CURIOUS GEORGE’S FRIEND.
He’s a riot these days, my friends.
He’s fast and he’s crazy and he messes this apartment up faster than I can count to 10, but he’s SO FUN AND SAYS THE FUNNIEST THINGS.
Like, all week, he’s been putting his cap on backwards and saying, “MAMA, I’M WEARING MY HAT LIKE A GROWN-UP.”
And, yesterday, when I told him that I missed his long hair, he looked at me with crinkled eyebrows and said, “It’s at Nani’s house.” As if I missed the hair itself. Off of his head. As if I was crazy because it’s not like the hair was GONE. It’s in a plastic baggie in Nani’s house and I can visit it any time I wanted to.
I love this little monkey and I can’t believe how quickly he is growing. He’s learning so much, so fast. And I feel so lucky to get to be his mama.
