HELLO!
I’m taking advantage of a rare moment where Ishu has to sit still and not move his body for a little bit.
We painted some glitter onto his nails this morning and now he has to be a statue while it dries and I’m lovin’ it. Ha.
He’s currently listening to his Toniebox (which has been a lifesaver these days). Sometimes when I need him to stop bouncing around and being so LOUD, I’ll pick any Tonie from his collection and place it on top of the box. Which makes it start playing immediately. And once it starts playing, Ishu’s ears perk up in the room next door. And his bouncing body immediately runs into his room and he throws himself down on his little chair and is completely immersed in the story. It has worked EVERY TIME so far. It feels PAVLOVIAN. It’s a nice little Ishu hack. (The Wild Kratts Tonie is his current fav).
He never wants a story to be read without him present.
Actually, the other day, I was flipping through a picture book with Riyu. It was one of those Loveevery books where they had a picture of a baby on each page along with ONE emotion word. Happy, sad, tired, silly. I started reading it and Ishu RACED over from the kitchen and plopped down next to us.
“Mama, can you start over?” he said with a serious look on his face.
Because, apparently, even the board books for babies are his jam.
This sweet little guy and his love of books.
From Day 1.
I have a video of him at 2 months old kicking and flailing his arms as we read him Brown Bear.
He loves any and all books.
He’s home the rest of the week while school is out so the Toniebox hack is a nice little tool for me when I just need a moment to not hear the word, “Mama.”
It’s funny how we go WILD when they first learn to say it. How we sit there next to them, slowly enunciating the word – “MAAAAAA-MAAAAAAAAA” – hoping they mimic our mouth movements.
MAMA.
Funny because then, when they are four, you can’t STAND HEARING THAT DAMN WORD BEING SAID OVER AND OVER.
HA.
Anyway, yes, the Toniebox hack.
It’s keeping me sane this week.
GOODBYE!
