The Ishu Love Train
I am on the Ishu-love train and I can’t get off.
I mean, I love him. Obviously. He’s a pretty great kid.
But, lately, he’s just been so in love with his little brother that every time I see them together, my heart just melts into a big, soggy puddle.
Back in California, in the midst of all the sitting around, I took the boys to the playground to release some big energy.
At one point, Riyu started tossing sand in the air until it rained down on Ishu’s head.
We told him that sand stays on the ground, but, y’know, this two-year-old had other ideas.
I said to Ishu, “Why don’t you head to the other side of the playground? He’s not hearing or understanding what we are saying, so just walk over there so you don’t get sand on you.”
He walked away for a minute or two. And then stomped back over to Riyu all the while yelling at me, “I don’t care if he’s doing a bad thing; I still love him more than anything in the world.”
Ha.
I mean, if *I* dumped sand on Ishu’s head, THE WORLD WOULD BE OVER.
But Riyu? Total free pass.
Yesterday, while we were at the park flying Ishu’s airplane, he let Riyu have a few turns.
Of course, Riyu chucked it straight into the grass. Not even a nosedive, just a straight shot to the ground.
But Ishu’s got heart eyes for his little brother these days.
So his tone shifted completely to the tone he uses when he’s loving on his brother. And he said, “Wow Riyu! You’re throwing it better than ALL of us!”
Not quite.
But no matter what Riyu does, Ishu’s right by his side, beaming with pride.
It’s so freakin’ cute and I hope they stay each other’s biggest cheerleaders forever. If they can hold on to even a tiny piece of this effortless love they have for each other, that will be the greatest gift. <3
