Over the weekend, we passed by Ankur’s work building and Ishu was really excited about this bright orange bike rack right outside.
“Up, down, up, down, up, down,” he said as he pointed his finger from left to right.
We hurried him along after he did it twice. And thought nothing of it. Never brought it up again. Never talked about it.
And THEN, the next evening (almost a full 30 hours later!), he was doodling on the carpet and I could hear him say, “Up, down, up, down.”
I thought he was writing an “M” or a “W” because that’s typically how he narrates when he’s writing those letters. Ha.
But then he kept going and then finally stopped and said, “LOOK MAMA!”
A snake, I thought.
“What is it?” I asked.
“It’s from outside!” he responded proudly.
“Outside? Where outside?” I followed up.
“Outside from papa’s office!!” he answered.
At which point I realized he was drawing the bike rack from the previous day.
At which point my face looked like the brain blowing up emoji. Because he just does these things all the time where he’ll pull seemingly trivial information from DAYS AGO from his little brain and talk about them like we had a full 4-hour lecture on it.
He’s the coolest kid with the funnest little brain and I can’t get over all the data he’s collected over the years.
