Good morning, good morning.
Far too early, in my opinion.
Ankur got Ishu to fall asleep pretty quickly in his bed. And then he woke Ankur up at 2am. And then woke me up at 4am. “Mama! I have a hangnail. Can we cut my hangnail?”
The urgency of a hangnail at 4am is something I will never understand.
I finally got him back to sleep at 5:30. And now I’m wide awake.
Thankfully, aside from a session of PT, I don’t have much on the agenda today so I predict a nap in my future.
I have a list of things I’ve been trying to tackle with my time off. Yesterday, I sat down with our file box and the shredder and went to town. When I took everything out to recycling, I felt an enormous weight lifted off my shoulders. This has been on my to-do list since, oh, I don’t know…2020?!
I’ve got a few more tasks that I wanted to start today. But we’ll see where the day leads me. (Probably my bed, y’know?).
Aside from our nighttime debacle, we had a great evening yesterday!
We went to our first “Water Flick” this summer at the Navy Pier. They had a showing of Lion King and the turnout was HUGE. Ishu showed up with his Lion King backpack filled with snacks and his stuffed Simba in his hand. He was pretty excited throughout the whole movie. The weather was absolutely perfect and the air quality returned to normal at some point in the evening.
We sat near a bunch of other kiddos and families from his school so I think the excitement of it all – the movie plus the candy plus the friends around – had him grinning non-stop. I mean, minus when the hyenas appeared on screen. The grin was gone when the hyenas showed up.
Alright, I guess I’ll climb back into bed for now. Though, I hesitate to do that. Because it’s a known fact that your kid wakes up and needs you when you’ve somehow gotten comfortable and fallen back asleep.
Ha.
Whatever. I’ll risk it.
Have a good one!
