This week, as I transition back to work with our days crammed full of different PD sessions, I am thankful for two things.
1) The endless supply of coffee. This summer, I decreased my Starbucks intake. Because, quite frankly, you don’t really need coffee in order to effectively lay around at the beach. So, some days I got my fix and others not so much.
This week, I’m realizing just how much I NEED it to get me through each day. Especially when there aren’t kids to be chasing after. All you office workers who sit in front of a computer all day – don’t know how you do it without five gallons of coffee by your side.
2) My staff. We lost a few folks who went off to work somewhere else/go to grad school. But, for the most part, our school has retained most of our staff members. Which is a pretty big deal because there’s such a large turnover rate in charter schools.
Sometimes I close my eyes and visualize what it would be like to work with a different group of people. And then I quickly open them and try to forget that thought. Because I can’t. I don’t want to. I work with the best people. The most dedicated, hard-working, passionate people I know.

Ok so you probably don’t NEED a lattee to lay on the beach.. but it does make it 10x better 🙂
