Hi all,
I’ve been away from the blog for a few days since Hema has been in town and I’ve been soaking up every second I can with her while she’s in Mountain View. Today, she heads to San Bruno, but I’ll see her again in a few days when we head to Monterey to see the family this weekend.
It’s been a while since I’ve done a Thankful Thursday post. Not because I’m a completely ungrateful bitch. I keep a gratitude journal and write a few sentences each night about the things/people I’m thankful for. So, I’m not ungrateful. I’m just ungrateful publicly.
So, time to make a few of these things public:
My Family
Cliche? Yes. But couldn’t be more true. I talked a little bit about it in my last post, but to expand, I am so unbelievably grateful to have the family that I do. I know we can be so in-your-face and overwhelming. We always want to know what everyone’s eating for each meal, where they went during the day, and when their last bowel movement was. (Okay, I may be exaggerating a little).
But, as I get older and as life continues to happen, I realize just how fortunate I am to have this family that provides unconditional love and support to one another. All it takes is one quick message on our Whatsapp group chat saying I feel a little off. And, within minutes, my family is available to listen to me vent, to offer me advice, and to remind me that I am so loved. There is nothing that I could do or say that would accurately express how much I love and appreciate them.
It’s also really exciting that my family continues to GROW. Bhav, my older cousin (but, let’s be honest. She’s my sister) is preggo and we get to have another baby to spoil like crazy! 🙂 I wish I had a picture of her and her baby bump to show. But, just trust me when I say she’s the cutest little pregnant lady you’ve ever seen.
The Prime Method
Three weeks ago, I joined a program that has helped keep me on track to eating as clean as possible. It’s essentially just a shift toward eating completely clean, completely UNprocessed things and eliminating all the toxic crap I’ve been putting in my body over the past 26 years. The thing that I’ve loved the most about the program is that I’m slowly becoming more mindful in the choices I make and the effects that certain foods have on my body. I haven’t been completely 100% clean, but it’s very obvious when I go off plan. I don’t feel well and it shows in my overall energy and mood. Last Friday, I was in a bind and had to go to Subway for lunch. Let’s just say that it wasn’t a good decision and my body did not cooperate.
SO crazy to think that I used to live off of Subway – lunch and dinner every day. Sometimes even breakfast. And now I can’t handle a salad from there.
College Friendships
I’ve been super nostalgic about UCLA lately. I don’t know why I’ve chosen this particular time in my life to be reflective. Maybe it was because I was reunited with some of my favorites two weeks ago at Conor’s wedding. Pretty much AT the Rose Bowl.
I’m just grateful that, despite being hundreds of miles away from some of my favorite people, and despite going months without talking to some of them, they remain my best friends and when we’re together, it’s like no time has passed.
So much to be thankful for on a daily basis. But these three things have brought me the most joy over the past few weeks. I’m so very grateful. <3
Questions of the Day:
- What are you thankful for this month?
