Riyaan, you’re 10 months old today! And your papa wrote a milestone update so we never forget all these little moments with you. <3
How You’re Moving:
You’re crawling everywhere you can, and bear-crawling when you don’t want your knees on the ground. Pulling yourself up to stand has become all too easy, and sometimes you boldly let go to stand unsupported for 2-3 seconds before losing your balance and falling onto your butt. You’ve come up with a new interesting way of moving around, walking on your knees while pushing Ishu’s big toy fire truck like a walker around the living room.
What You’re Saying:
While you’re now making countless different babbling and cooing sounds, the intentional ones are “BEH” for books, ball, and birdies, “mmmummum” when you want more food, and “num num” when you are successful in securing food in your mouth.
How You’re Behaving:
Your personality is becoming sillier and more playful by the day. I pretty much die when you flash your adorable million-dollar smile when I enter the room. You giggle at so many things, sometimes at nothing at all, and most of all at your big brother. You’ve made up a couple of your own dance moves – swaying your head side to side and bouncing your arms and body up and down – when you hear music playing. And the best is when you make that funny bubbly sound with your voice as you rub your hand up and down against your lips.
What You’re Playing:
Our father-son games of Catch are really fun, even though it’s more like “Roll” as we drop the ball and let it roll to each other repeatedly. You enjoy driving toy cars back and forth on the ground. You’re becoming quite the little musician as you bang on Ishu Bhaiya’s piano, shake tambourines and rattles, and pound on drums with drumsticks or your hands. This past weekend you had such a blast splashing around in the water at the Great Wolf Lodge water park. When I read books to you, you like to try turning the pages yourself, though most of the time you turn the wrong direction or skip all the pages.
How You’re Growing:
We can’t believe how quickly clothes are getting tight on you and it’s harder to put objects out of your expanding reach. I discovered that your teeth have started to come in, both on top and bottom, when a few days ago I felt something sharp as you chomped down on my fingers – ouch! You’ve started to feed yourself and actually prefer that to being fed by someone else. Who cares if half the time your food ends up somewhere else on your body or on the floor instead of in your mouth?
We just love how interactive and playful you have become so rapidly over the past month. We can already tell how sweet, silly, and compassionate you are going to be when you grow up. And not to mention tough, as most younger siblings have to be! You celebrated Father’s Day with me for the first time yesterday, and Mother’s Day with Mama last month. You’re going to keep experiencing more firsts in the coming months, and it’s hard to fathom that not too long ago you weren’t even part of our lives.
We are in love with the little human you have become after 10 months. We love being your world and we love having you in ours.
