I didn’t make any New Years resolutions.
Part of me loves the idea of starting anew. Turning the page. Beginning a new chapter. Throwing out all the bad habits and adopting healthier ones.
And then there’s part of me that hates them. Hates the idea of having to sit there and think about all the things that are wrong with me and how I can be a better version of myself in the upcoming year.
I’m all for improving myself. I just hate the way that we tend to think of all the things that are WRONG in order to make them RIGHT.
“Right” is subjective after all.
So, in keeping with the theme of last year, I am going to spend 2016 doing things that make ME happy.
Healthy eating and working out makes me happy. But so does the occasional bowl-of-ice-cream for dinner.
Checklists and organization makes me happy. But so does spontaneity and throwing away all plans for an in-the-moment experience.
Local trips and traveling makes me happy. But so do Sunday afternoons, lying in bed, reading a book.
It’s all subjective. It’s all right.
2016. I choose happy.
Question of the Day:
- Do you make resolutions? What are they?
carla says
No resolutions here either.
I TRIED to change things up this year (wrote about it today) and the ole jury is still out whether that will work 🙂
