Yesterday, after dropping Ishu to school, I hustled back to my favorite coffee shop to kick off my morning there.
I have been loving spending the morning there – at the coffee shop – and then heading home for lunch and some Zoom testing in the little corner of our bedroom.
It’s been a nice way to start the morning.
A little bit of journaling, answering e-mails, reading my book, and getting in the right headspace to have a productive, fulfilled, happy day.
I don’t have much to report on today. But I did want to copy/paste this excerpt from my journal. Because, if you’re like me, and always asking yourself, “Okay, and? What’s next?” this might hit home for you.
I just want to pause here for a moment and recognize that this life I’m living? It’s exactly what I remember wanting back when I was grinding so hard at Rocketship. I remember stopping at Starbucks on Story Road to pick up my *first* Venti of the day. Looking around at the people who set up shop, working from their laptops, their cell phones. Taking a moment to read the newspaper before getting their day started. I wanted this so much. I wanted to be able to be involved in schools, while also having a flexible schedule that didn’t have me hustling, working 12 hour days.
This is what I wanted.
And I’m living it.
So, pause. Pause. Pause. And soak it in right now.
At this time in your life when you’re confused about what to do next and how to maximize your days, just pause and breathe in RIGHT NOW. Because this right here is exactly what you envisioned.
So don’t try to rush to fill in all the moments.
Don’t fill your internal monologue with, “Is this enough?”
This is more than enough.
This is what you wanted.
After typing that final period, I looked up, looked around, smiled at my favorite barista, and took a deep breath in. It’s so easy to lose sight of NOW in chasing what’s next, of wanting “more, more, more.” But, if the Divya from 5 years could take a look at her life right now, she’d feel pretty ecstatic that she ended up right here. At the coffee shop. Having a really incredible work/life balance. Prioritizing her mental health and happiness.
Hope you have a wonderful Friday and a wonderful weekend. Thank you for being here and reading ALL MY FEELINGS ALL THE TIME. I HAVE SO MANY OF THEM.
