We are back in cold, cold Chicago. We left 60 degree weather to fly back to a blanket of snow.
It is currently 15 degrees outside.
Yikes.
Before I bundle up and brave the cold to go grocery shopping, I thought I’d come on here and share a few scenes from the weekend!
It was surprisingly rainy for most of the week, but the temperatures warmed up and we got nothing but sunshine over the weekend. As if SoCal was teasing us before we hopped on our plane back to Chicago.
On Friday, we picked Ankur up from the airport. He flew back just for the weekend so we could celebrate the new year together! (And the minute he landed, my whole body relaxed. He stepped in for meal times and nap times and play times and all the things without me having to explain a single thing. Sharing the parenting load is real nice and I don’t take it for granted).
We all fell asleep before midnight. I was in bed reading my Kindle around 11pm until I dozed off. (Not a bad way to celebrate NYE in my opinion. Reading books on both X-mas and NYE makes me feel like 2022 is gonna go swimmingly).
On Saturday, we had some family over for lunch in the backyard. Things you can do in the winter when you live in California, I suppose. Hahaha. We ordered Mendocino Farms sandwiches and salads and got to sit under the sunshine catching up.
The kids were playing with this toy car for a while. Ishu is mostly interested in the car door and the beeping horn. Anything with buttons.
We got to spend time with Maya who is now 2 months old! The next time we see her, she’s gonna be so much bigger. Probably rolling around or even scooting. Babies grow so fast!
We spent some time with Nani (never enough) and then, we blinked, and it was time to come back to Chicago.
I don’t know whether I miss my family more or the sunshine. It’s a toss-up.
HAHAHA, I’M JOKING. LOVE YOU, BYE.
Question of the Day:
Where did you ring in the new year?
