I’m a little late in getting this post up but that’s because the last few days have flown by and I’m just trying to get my body to catch up.
I’m currently sitting at Ronald Reagan airport – 3 hours early for my flight. I’m an overachiever.
This past weekend held two very special events that I want to share (and will probably do so in two separate posts). But first, I want to send a virtual smush to my Aishu who turns TWO YEARS OLD today. It feels like just yesterday that we all flew to SoCal to celebrate her first birthday.
Aishu – your Masi loves you the most and can’t wait to squeeze you and hear you shriek in person. You’ve become so much more interactive and playful and I just love getting to watch you go through all of these developments (even if it is through Facetime for most of the year).

One of the reasons I’m not with the birthday girl today is because I came and surprised the other birthday girl in DC for most of the weekend.
I showed up on Sissy’s doorstep on Thursday night and got to spend Friday and most of Saturday with her. On Friday night, we planned a surprise get-together with some of her favorite people. A “happy hour” birthday party.
Complete with cheese plates, pizza, and cocktails for DAYS.
While I pride myself on my party-throwing skills, they pale in comparison to Sister’s. She is the best party-thrower, gift-giver, and birthday celebrator. And birthdays are her favorite. So I was a little worried when we were putting this together because I felt as though it wouldn’t live up to what she’s used to.
Lucky for me, the thing Sissy loves most is her people. She had such a great time being surrounded by everyone she loves. And there was something so wonderful for me – as Sissy’s biggest fan – about being there with all those people. Because I got to see that Sister has lots of fans. So many people who love and adore her and view her in the same light that I do. I loved seeing old faces, meeting new faces, and sharing Sister stories with everyone there.
Sissy – I had so much fun with you this weekend and I always feel the saddest when I leave you. But sometimes that hollowness on my insides is a nice reminder that I am so lucky to have someone that makes saying goodbye the hardest. I love all your pieces with all my pieces.
Questions of the Day:
- Isn’t my sister the prettiest?
- Do you have a sister? What do you call her?
