Good morning from Newport!
We drove here yesterday after Ishaan’s first nap. He had a busy morning yesterday over at the playground. It’s really interesting to see how the drives to Newport have transformed over time.
It used to be super easy because he’d fall asleep in the back seat. And I could listen to my podcasts the entire way there. And, on the off chance he’d wake up and scream because his pacifier fell out, I’d have a bag of them in the passenger’s seat and I’d simply reach behind me and pop one in his mouth and he’d fall back asleep.
Then, when he started to become more aware, he’d still fall asleep for about 35 minutes of the drive. So we’d be a-okay during the nap and then I’d just grip my steering wheel and hold my breath while he screamed for the final 25.
(And, when it got REALLY bad, I’d have to pull off the freeway and nurse him and wait ’til he calmed down).
And NOW?
Well, if you’ve been reading these posts, you know he’s not a happy camper when we have to be in the car at night. And he’s much better when he has a car buddy.
But, it’s so cool to see that he is fully aware of where we are headed.
Right before buckling him yesterday, I said, “Ishu, we’re going to Nani’s house!”
To which he responded, “Nana. Nana. Nana.”
And then throughout the car ride, he would be reading a book or playing with one of his Fisher Price toys and occasionally looked up at the mirror and said, “Nana. Nana. Nana.”
As if he was reminding me or reassuring himself that, yes, we were still on our way to Nani’s house.
He’s LEARNING SO MANY THINGS SO FAST AND MY OWN BRAIN CAN’T KEEP UP WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIS BRAIN.
If I could utilize emojis on WordPress, I’d end with the “shocked face and exploding head” emoji. Because that’s quite accurately how he makes me feel on the daily.
Question of the Day:
What emoji describes your mood today?
